McCain has passed away. R.I.P.

Its called politics dumb fuck. You act as if the right wing supported everything the left did that they disagreed with. Then too, one most always shows respect (something else you lack) for the dead.

so it was just "politics" in 2008 when your side called him a racist? a cheater?

Just "politics"

I guess what is happening to Trump right now is "just politics"

Sorry, I won't let you pricks forget your words as you try to virtue signal

Hello kudzu,

One for the history books!

Full text of John McCain's Senate floor speech: 'Let’s return to regular order'

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...t-john-mccains-senate-floor-speech/509799001/

Thanks for posting that. I disagreed with much of McCain's policy, but I appreciated his candor and dedication to the USA.

President Obama said in his book, 'The Audacity of Hope' that he wanted to bring back civil discourse and mutual respect in politics. He described how the Senators and Representatives of the not too distant past would be at odds during the daytime on the floor, but then they would be friends in social settings. They would have dinner together, share a smile, joke with one another, learn the human side of each other. Somewhere along the time Newt Gingrich came along that all but vanished. When that comradery was lost so was cooperation and compromise.

John McCain and Barack Obama shared this idea that political opposites don't have to hate one another just because they disagree on policy.

John McCain is gone, but the idea remains.

It is the idea that we all live under one flag.

United we stand.

That doesn't mean we have to agree.

We can be united in principles and divided on policy. That's OK. It doesn't mean we have to hate one another.

We actually have more in common than what divides us.

As we remember John McCain, we need to remember what unites us.

This is from the speech you linked:

“We are an important check on the powers of the Executive. Our consent is necessary for the President to appoint jurists and powerful government officials and in many respects to conduct foreign policy. Whether or not we are of the same party, we are not the President’s subordinates. We are his equal!

“As his responsibilities are onerous, many and powerful, so are ours. And we play a vital role in shaping and directing the judiciary, the military, and the cabinet, in planning and supporting foreign and domestic policies. Our success in meeting all these awesome constitutional obligations depends on cooperation among ourselves.

“The success of the Senate is important to the continued success of America. This country – this big, boisterous, brawling, intemperate, restless, striving, daring, beautiful, bountiful, brave, good and magnificent country – needs us to help it thrive. That responsibility is more important than any of our personal interests or political affiliations.

“We are the servants of a great nation, ‘a nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.’ More people have lived free and prosperous lives here than in any other nation. We have acquired unprecedented wealth and power because of our governing principles, and because our government defended those principles.

“America has made a greater contribution than any other nation to an international order that has liberated more people from tyranny and poverty than ever before in history. We have been the greatest example, the greatest supporter and the greatest defender of that order. We aren’t afraid. “We don’t covet other people’s land and wealth. We don’t hide behind walls. We breach them. We are a blessing to humanity.

“What greater cause could we hope to serve than helping keep America the strong, aspiring, inspirational beacon of liberty and defender of the dignity of all human beings and their right to freedom and equal justice? That is the cause that binds us and is so much more powerful and worthy than the small differences that divide us." -Sen John McCain.

Oh I paid attention you stupid fuck. Nothing out of your prick Trump until after people ragged about how hew had said nothing. Of course, why would one expect a "proud retired military" man like you to do anything but support a coward like Trump.

How's it feel to have your ass served to you by President Trump? I love when you idiots make fools of yourselves.

Exactly. That is why I started the thread I did pointing out their lies and duplicity. McCain was only good for the left when he was sticking his fingers in the eyes of conservatives. When he ran for President they bashed him the way they bash EVERY Republican candidate.

Now if McCain never saw that or he ignored it then that is his problem.

I can separate his military record from his political record. Politically, he was a fucking disaster

- Keating 5
- Gang of 8 bullshit
- Voted against tax cuts
- Supported and pushed amnesty
- Voted against repealing Obamacare even though he ran on repealing it

The list could go on and on and on. Politically, I am not sorry to see him go.

give credit where credit is due. He hung on past the date where there would be an election to replace him. Now we just get to appoint some rando. Arpaio for senate? :P

I've always liked McCain, but he became unpalatable as a politician, when Palin came along. It's been awhile, but in the early years I swear he wasn't a republican, and I thought he was a good. Of course I think I was a bit young then.

Naw, kind of like your signature avatar with the phony ass Trump celebrating while he steals from the people. Kind of like you in general. Just a dumb fuck that cares for nothing but himself. If you had anything resembling integrity, or intelligence, you would actually use my words when criticizing them. Of course, liars like you would never think of doing something with integrity.

What is happening to Trump is called exposing the crook for what he is while people like you stumble in your ignorance. Problem Trump has is that for decades he has run over all others with his lies, and fraud. Now he is in the public eye, not just some peon who has never done anything for the country, and rational people are seeing him for the fraud he is. Useful idiots like you just keep on kissing his ass, and making it harder for the country to grow. In reality, your signature avatar demonstrates just how lacking in intelligence you are. Two whores, a toady, being driven around by a drunken fool.

LOL, only in the mind of a useful idiot would one actually believe that a lying coward serves anyone their "ass". Then too, no retired veteran with any integrity would support, and defend, a lying coward like you do.

Especially after the attack on a prisoner of war hero and a Gold Star Family, they aren’t patriots they are Putriots.

The left trashed him as an unstable, insane, racist and unfit for office.

Now? Crocodile tears.

It is, what it is.

The next time they slur you as a racist or a white supremacist sympathizer, keep in mind they really don’t mean it and it’s just ‘politics’ lol.

I’ve never heard John McCain was an incompetent drunk, where is this information available. I think he might have been intoxicated when he chose Palin as a running mate, but I’ve never heard the rumor of him being an incompetent drunk.
I think there is a lot of drinking that goes on in DC. I thought Boehner always looked like he’d had a three martini lunch.
By his own admission, he was less than stellar at the academy. He finished at the bottom of his class. He was a well known drunk/partier. I'm sure you're aware that his father/grandfather were admirals?

He never learned the requirements to be a competent pilot, crashing more than one plane in training runs. He once came close to drowning when he put the craft down in the water, and didn't know how to quickly exit the plane.

Some reading here. This has never been a secret

And? So? Never been a secret about GW's "service" either. The dude's dead, did much more than you ever will for this shithole nation.

I never heard of McCain being a drunk?!! I have the utmost respect for the senator, volunteering to go and fight in Vietnam he was the son of a four star admiral, he could have rode out the war behind a desk or some other job out of harm's way! McCain cared about veterans too!

Nobody's ever heard about McCain being a drunk, until they hear about it.

Thank you, I will review it.

If the facts cause you angst, that's something you'll have to figure out for yourself.

Dubyah was a complete disgrace, as he refused to serve . McCain had no choice, as his lineage demanded that he follow the family's path.

He just happened to get a lot of breaks because of his family name.

Hey...he's just like every other politician. Maybe you've never heard of 'The Keating 5'?

Read my sig.

I'm always here to help.
