Post-9/11, the airlines take that shit seriously. They share lists (proprietary information) of violent offenders with other airlines. Nobody wants a problem in a pressurized aluminum can at 37,000 feet.

Most of the fucking morons arrested think they will able to get away with some religious or other bullshit argument, but they won't. They clearly understood the rules entering the airport, checking in at the gate and boarding the aircraft. If they forget on board or inflight they will be reminded by a flight attendant per FAA regulations. At that point, if they fail to comply, it's a aviation compliance problem - a literal violation of standing federal law.

Pro Tip: If you commit a crime on an airliner with the door open, it falls under local jurisdiction. If the crime is committed with the door closed, even on the ground, it's federal. After the idiot serves his sentence/pays his fines, no airline will let him fly again.

Nobody needs a problem at 37,000' and almost all passengers readily agree. Don't be fucking stupid.

Agreed about the trope but it's a logic error to assume that because racists use gorilla masks than all gorilla mask wearers are racist.
