Individual mandate shot down

that may be true c'est, but when people are polled on the the individual parts that make up the bill they support it. The dems have just done a shit job promoting and educating people on the bill. They suck at marketing.

They're better at it than the republicans are though...

34% in favor, 48% in opposition:

Also, 72% of Americans (including 56% of Democrats) believe the mandate is unconstitutional:

Poor Jarod.

uhhh brent, those people were lied to and brainwashed. They don't actually think that. Only when they support healthcare will they be showing their true feelings and have complete knowledge

Insurance doesn't cover it all, one medication I had cost $983.00 for a months supply. Chemo is outrageous and you have to see a doctor every week, then monthly then every three months and then every six months, I am finally five years out and after this next appointment I won't have to see him for a whole year. It is insane the costs involved when you have cancer, and I had stage two!
Then there are the surgeries. Several of them to date. Both in excess of $250,000. His cap was $1 million. Didn't even take a year to blow by that.

I'm pretty sure their clued into that. Their just trolling to be assholes.

i beg to differ. dems do a horrible job at messaging and sticking together. If they were to have a karl rove of the left, they'd be unstoppable.
I have to agree with you. In fact Republicans take great pride in the skill of their messaging and being disciplined about staying on message where as Dems are infamous for their circular firing squads.

How fucking stupid. He had company insurance just like I do except now that he can't work he's on COBRA and still paying those premiums even though he's on disability. Unfortunately for him the provisions ending insurance caps didnt' go into affect till well after he got sick. Tough shit right?

Ya'lls ignorance and lack of empathy on this issue is astounding. Like I said, one day, hopefully a long, long time from now, it will be your turn and it won't take a Nostradamos to predict your hypocricy when it happens to you. You'll sing a different tune then.

Remember what it took before callous, self-centered, backwards-thinking, asshole Republican Nancy Reagan to change her position on stem-cell research?

The Gipper came down with Alzheimer's. All of a sudden, it was worth it to sacrifice some snowflake babies to save the Gipper!

I agree, but getting Dems together at times is like herding cats, they have their own minds and do not fall so easily for mind control.

Amazing isn't it, when it becomes their reality!

It doesn't hurt that the mob mentality possesses their party and its members. Loyalty trumps everything. They'll throw each other under a bus if need be to ensure party vitality. There's the difference.

If you ask people about the actual contents of the bill in the abstract, lots of people, including Republicans, really like a whole lot of it:

The new Reuters-Ipsos poll finds that Obamacare remains deeply unpopular; 56 percent of Americans oppose the law, versus only 44 percent who favor it. The poll also finds that strong majorities of Americans favor the individual provisions in the law -- the hated individual mandate excepted, of course.

What’s particularly interesting about this poll is that solid majorities of Republicans favor most of the law’s main provisions, too.

I asked Ipsos to send over a partisan breakdown of the data. Key points:

* Eighty percent of Republicans favor “creating an insurance pool where small businesses and uninsured have access to insurance exchanges to take advantage of large group pricing benefits.” That’s backed by 75 percent of independents.

* Fifty-seven percent of Republicans support “providing subsidies on a sliding scale to aid individuals and families who cannot afford health insurance.” That’s backed by 67 percent of independents.

* Fifty-four percent of Republicans favor “requiring companies with more than 50 employees to provide insurance for their employers.” That’s backed by 75 percent of independents.

* Fifty two percent of Republicans favor “allowing children to stay on parents insurance until age 26.” That’s backed by 69 percent of independents.

* Seventy eight percent of Republicans support “banning insurance companies from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions; 86 percent of Republicans favor “banning insurance companies from cancelling policies because a person becomes ill.” Those are backed by 82 percent of independents and 87 percent of independents.

* One provision that isn’t backed by a majority of Republicans: The one “expanding Medicaid to families with incomes less than $30,000 per year.”

Hold on there. It was that same calloused self-centered, backwards-thinking Nancy Reagan who convinced Ronnie to finally address the AIDS epidemic. Nancy Reagan and Liz Taylor probably did more to gain overwhelming support for addressing the AIDS epidemic than any other public persons. Nancy pretty much single handedly convinced Reagan that he was wrong about AIDS.
