I like Chris Christie

i don't see a problem with starting a thread about a simple concept. the concept is often bantered around in discussions and i didn't feel i needed to add any more to it. not one of our politicians running for office, except maybe ron paul, is a straight shooter. look at mott's first post, it took the issue seriously and he made a good contribution to the thread. that is because he doesn't have it in for me like rune and onceler. this could have been a good thread is onceler and rune hadn't trolled it.

Pot, meet kettle. You derail so, so many threads w/ your BS.

Problem is, what you perceived as BS from me w/ my initial response didn't have to be. It wasn't how I intended it. As I said above, I was using an extreme example to make a point. You could have engaged that.

Instead, you went w/ "idiot."

Then do something with you genius, rather than being all clever, and hiding it from everyone around here.

I honestly think Yurt (not counting malicious posters such as Webb, Legion, and SM) is the most-hated poster on the site. This includes posters such as Stirfry (Tinfoil) and Dixie, who go out of their way to piss some people off. If this is not the case, then I'm rather surprised, gazing into the chaos from this side of my monitor, because I seriously think a group of people here hate his guts. Since I see a guy who is sincere, but a bit slow at stringing words together, I tend to defend him.

I will concede, I used to defend a leftist pariah named Maineman, and that backfired on me when he got banned, and all sorts of horrible stories came out about him. In Yurt's case, I could be wrong, but I think it's just the Californian in him.

Thankyou for more honesty. That didn't hurt did it?
Now let's be honest about one more thing (just you and I) Yurt harrassed the shit out of me when I came arround here, and I reacted to it. My reactions were likely not perfect, yet hardly uncalled for, considering yurts words. Agree or no?

right...that is why i defended you against ID and loyal....then you started insulting me with the same insults legion uses. do try and be honest once in a while. and "harrassment"....then by your definition you have harrassed the shit out of numerous members of this board since you got here. you are a whiny crybaby that loves to dish it out but when you get it in return you start crying and running to your posse to help defend you.

I think he is good at putting his foot into it. My experiences on Werewolf indicate that he is easy to rile up, and so people (SF, USF) make sport of him.

i only mildly got riled at SF the first game...i had to continue acting like that again because i was a wolf and didn't want people to think i changed and was playing different. usf is just bizarre, he doesn't rile me, but getting him riled is hilarious.

I think he considers it a time-honoured tradition to gun for you in Werewolf. He spouts the same "meltdown/spaz" line every round, and gets everyone else to chime in.

Really?

Here is the OP, since you apparently neglected to read it;

Since the only point Yurt made in his thread titled "I Like Chris Christie" is that he "speaks his mind", Oneceler's point is obvious.

And so was mine. Thanks for your "help" but I'm sure Onceler can explain his immediate need to compare everybody to Hitler without your awesome help.

Interestingly I also like Christie, however in terms of the point of contention, I am sure Hitler also "spoke from the heart".

Again, so did Roosevelt, even when he put Japanese people into camps because of their race (Germans and Italians too on a lesser scale). Can you make it clear why you feel the need to compare everything to one of the clearest human rights abuses of the last century? Do you think that "speaking one's mind" makes somebody "like" Hitler? Do you speak your mind?

I knew someone would take the comment as "Christie is just like Hitler!"

I just knew it.

Unfortunately it was Rune who doubled down on your post. I simply asked you what your point was, which you later explained wonderfully.

Are you OK right now? The only point yurt made was that Christie speaks his mind. WTF

Then answer the questions in the previous post, like Onceler did simply explain the actual point you were trying to make when you invoked one of the worst human rights abuses in the last century.

Calling out every mention of this is important as it has an effect of diluting the actual importance of the Holocaust. Drawing attention back to the actual importance of those actions is important so that it is not diluted.

Already did. It was about commonalities. Yurt's OP made one point. Onc pointed out that even hitler had that quality, therefore that quality alone is hardly enough to "like" someone.

Hitler was one of the greatest motivational speakers of all time. He was a monster too.

Overuse of Hitler and Nazi tends to dilute the actual importance of what happened in that regime. I try to bring up what actually happened there each time somebody brings it up so that people understand that diluting the importance of that history is a mistake we should try to avoid. I will continue doing it. I also bring up violations here in this nation during that same point in history so we also do not forget those. So, basically assume you will see mentions of Roosevelt, people in camps here in the US and me redirecting when Hitler is mentioned.

One of the absolute worst points in human history should not be diluted by off-hand mentions by people who want to try to end conversation.

You know who else used the FDR's internment of Japanese folks to as a retort to mentions of Hitler? Pol Pot.
