he also mentioned not spreading the bs - i think that adolph spread quite a bit in his time

i do no follow chris enough to know much about him as when i did, i did not like his politics

but honesty is refreshing if not almost unheard of in a politician

Interestingly I also like Christie, however in terms of the point of contention, I am sure Hitler also "spoke from the heart".

As for Yurt, I think this thread was rather pointless. I think most people would want to have more to say than "I like Chris Christie because he's a straight talker," before starting up a thread. As it stands, he started this thread anyway. You can take that for what it is, but you don't have to act like a child, because you and Onceler are contributing far less than Yurt, and he contributed very little to begin with.

As a general life lesson for you, Rune, the next time someone says "X is worse than Hitler" or "X is similar to/just like Hitler" (especially if they substitute "you're" for X), they are joking or being sarcastic. I really shouldn't have to tell you this, but here are...

No one said X is worse than or the same as hitler. The comparison involved commonality, nothing more. -1 point.

I do a lot of things that are a complete waste of time. I think it's a West Coast thing...

The post in question amounted to "X is similar to Hitler." That's what stating a commonality, premised on Adolf Hitler, does.

I saw a fairly pointless OP, followed by a really bad attempt at trolling, and knew that the post would be used to beat-up on the OP, because no one seems to like the guy all that much...

Here you are wrong again. I like yurt, I enjoy his presence on this board. I disagree with some of his debate tactics, and yet at the same time, allow him that, as a result of his training.

I am quite sure yurt also enjoys sparring with me, or I doubt he would follow me arround. Yurt makes his own bed by the way he acts.
Picking on those who call him out isn't really productive.

By the way, if you really believe I am stupid, your belief shines poorly on you. My I.Q. is well into genius level.

I honestly think Yurt (not counting malicious posters such as Webb, Legion, and SM) is the most-hated poster on the site. This includes posters such as Stirfry (Tinfoil) and Dixie, who go out of their way to piss some people off. If this is not the case, then I'm rather surprised, gazing into the chaos from this side of my monitor, because I seriously think a group of people here hate his guts. Since I see a guy who is sincere, but a bit slow at stringing words together, I tend to defend him.

I will concede, I used to defend a leftist pariah named Maineman, and that backfired on me when he got banned, and all sorts of horrible stories came out about him. In Yurt's case, I could be wrong, but I think it's just the Californian in him.

Yurt is a one-trick pony, and trolls often. He's not disliked because he's well-intended and just misunderstood. He's disliked for a reason.

I wasn't trolling here, btw. I was using an extreme example to make a point. And that point was that merely "speaking your mind" is neither here nor there when it comes to a politician. Ideas matter. If someone has lousy ideas but 100% conviction on them...no thanks. I'll take the waffling guy w/ a good foundation of ideas.

Most of MM's most horrible statements were deleted on the spot.

As for me, I don't dislike yurt either. He's one of the better posters on the board.
 
i don't see a problem with starting a thread about a simple concept. the concept is often bantered around in discussions and i didn't feel i needed to add any more to it. not one of our politicians running for office, except maybe ron paul, is a straight shooter. look at mott's first post, it took the issue seriously and he made a good contribution to the thread. that is because he doesn't have it in for me like rune and onceler. this could have been a good thread is onceler and rune hadn't trolled it.
