Have you purchashed your food insurance?

If it makes you feel better Jarod I'm a registered Republican and I barely have enough food at my place for my next meal. I don't cook so I literally go to the store for each meal. If anything happened I'd be screwed. 10 years of food seems a bit excessive to me but if you can afford it and have space to store it then you (we) should ne celebrating him helping out the economy with his current extra spending

I live in Florida and I store food, a couple of weeks worth. When I know a hurricane is approaching I go to the grocery store and make sure we have essentials, I fill the cars up with gas and buy some extra for my generator. I even buy bottled water and fill the tubs. Thats different that spending almost $10,000 on a years supply of pre-packeged discusting tasting food that will very likely never be used. Thats not fear, thats responsability.

Gee; aren't you worried that your less prepared neighbors will know what you're doing and just come and take your items from you, if a disaster happens?
How do you know the food is "discusting tasting" and will "very likely never be used"?

A friend purchashed a years worth of boxed and packaged food, the stuff is packeged such that they say it will be good for 10 years. Its enough to feed a family of four for a year. He bought it because he fears political meltdown in the comming year due to President Obama's ineptness. He listens to Glenn Beck every day!

This is an otherwise very smart guy, graduate of MIT. What gives? Is this really an intelegent thing to spend your money on? Really? I am really certian that its a waste of money and storage space. Also almost all of his friends and neighbors know about the stash. If things get bad enough to make people hungry, especally well off people like him, dont you think someone or some mob will take it from him? If I was really concerned enough to buy this food Id tell noone and burry it under my house.

Grad of MIT ?....Well, one thing is clear...he is head and shoulders more intelligent than you and you pinheads allies that ridicule him....

What he needs next is some firepower, ammo, and the balls to use it....

It wasn't a 10 years supply; but instead a years worth for 4 people, that had a shelf life of 10 years.

Liberals just cannot find enough to whine about their opposition, so they have to find silly things like this.

What, exactly, is wrong with preparing for possible (not probable, likely, or anything like that, but POSSIBLE) emergencies which would temporarily or long term decrease one's access to foods and other items we take for granted on a daily basis? Do people who purchase life insurance, health insurance, auto insurance, smoke and CO detectors, do so out of FEAR? Are people who buy flashlights and extra batteries FEARFUL of a power dropout? (Tell that to the people in San Diego!) Or do people prepare for various events because they want to be covered in case of disasters - be they personal, local, or more wide spread?

How is laying in stores, just in case something happens such that the local grocers cannot restock, or has significant reduced ability to restock (highway is out, bridge is out, flooded, etc.) for a week or more, a case of "living in fear"? Or, what if a political/economic collapse DOES come about? It has happened before, and it has happened to industrial nations before. Can anyone explain why such is impossible to reoccur?

Seems to me the ones actually living in fear are the liberals. They are looking at world events, seeing several of their favorite examples of "successful" socialist societies getting deeper and deeper in economic trouble, forced to resort to austerity measures to avoid total collapse, and it has them shitting in their fruit-of-the-looms. They are scared to fucking death the big bad republicans (and or the forces of history and economic necessity) are going to take away their big mommy government. Some have actually questioned WHY one would want to survive if government and/or the economy collapsed. LOL They'd rather die than face life without mommy government there to hold their hands.

I don't see it like that. It's not that they don't feel fear, but that if times should become that difficult and dire, they know they won't survive. So instead of coming to grips with the reality of them actually having to survive on their own with no government assistance, they just pretend that it could never happen and if, on the so very extreme unlikely improbably happenstance that it does, they'll just seek us out and take ours.

It's the TEA parties fault.

these are people that wouldn't know how to conduct themselves if gov didn't exist. It leaves a terrible uncertainty in their lives, because those they demand bow down to them or face the gov, would no longer have to. that can be a very traumatizing experience, not to feel that elitism and 'above it all' attitude they have currently.

If the government did not exist I would happily farm and fish to provide for my family. It would be very difficult for me, a lawyer, to practice my current profession. If the gvt fell apart over night my family would get pretty sick of fish for dinner until I could get crops planted and grown.

I have 57 producing pineapple plants and two acacado trees in the back yard, but there are plenty of months when they dont produce. I get about 400 avacados October through December and 35 or 40 Pineapples June to August.

I live on a golf corse so I guess I would take over the 12 fairway to grow my crops.

how do you plan on protecting your crops?

I dont expect it to happen, It will not happen, but I guess Id protect them as best as I can with my shotgun.

I would also consider moving away to a much more isolated location until things settle down.

Is that a serious question?

Glen Beck is fear monger, he sells fear for top dollar. Anyone who listens to him regularly is subject to a constant barrage of fear. He sells nothing but fear, with the exception of loathing.

Been in an airport lately?

You can't stand in an airport for more than a few minutes without hearing an anouncement that the current fear (threat) level is orange.

Really? It is orange every day for the last eight years?

I am half portugeese and half norwegian. My helper is half french and half lebanese. We are blacksmiths with facial hair and we dress in a grubby/manly way, kind of like bikers.
The last time we flew into Nantucket, a terrorist alert was called and on the radio and everything. The police of course ignored my work truck, since they are well familar with it working all over town. By the time we got to the jobsite, the carpenters were all abuzz with the talk of the two "terrorists" who had just flown onto the island.

Cheney used the fear generated by the 9-11 attacks to enact the patriot act, reverse posse comitatus, invade sovereign nations, assault the middle and lower class etc.

Fear is now being used to prevent tax increases and portray all muslims in a negative light in an effort to ensure endless war.

Fear is the only tool the GOP has and they use it quite well. Look at Alias and Mr.T for examples of fear, driven my the GOP fear machine (Fox News, Limbaugh, Beck, etc.,)

Thats the most paranoid piece of shit post I've had the misfortune to read in awhile...

According to Dune the Asshole, you're a Glenn Beck brainwashed nut infused with fear....

And he literally told you he expects this, or did he tell you he is prepared just in case it happens? It sounds more like fictional hearsay to me, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Most people who buy things like that do so "just in case" not because they have such a specific timeline and disaster in mind.

Yup, and as soon as he runs out of food he'd be at Jarod's house with a crowd ready to steal his stores. It's what he said.

I fell victim to the fear......when I went to the grocery store yesterday the peanut butter shelf was almost empy......a sign said it was because of a peanut shortage......I bought two jars even though I didn't need to.....
