I would be happy were you correct, but you underestimate the depravity of the right. They'd rather appoint Kav to flex their political muscles enough to raise a middle finger
than simply withdraw thenomination and appoint any of a dozen other ideologue originalist textualist scalia clones without this baggage.

Like he said in the hearings; he loved teaching. But thanks to the unethical efforts of a bunch of dishonest partisan hacks from the Party of the Jackass, he will no longer be able to teach.

Kavanaugh was scheduled to teach a class in the winter term, according to a source familiar with the matter. However, the source could not confirm the reason Kavanaugh would not be teaching at the school in 2019 beyond the statement sent out by school officials that he could "no longer commit to teaching his course." It was not immediately clear if Kavanaugh dropped out due to anticipation that he would be serving on the Supreme Court.

I always thought of Harvard and Yale as elite, rather stodgy, and quite conservative places of higher education.

I've always thought of Harvard as more liberal of the two. Both uber elite to be sure. It doesn't really matter. Trump is banned though. That's fun.

That said, there was no reason given by the dean for his departure. Any further explanation/excuse would be speculation.
