Gas is 1.98 a gallon?

"Back up" is a relative term. At one point when Braindead was in office we were paying (here) nearly $5 per gallon, and in California it was above $8.
You mean during the Pandemic? The one the Pedo President lied about for 5 months and botched the US response?

Yes, supply chain problems caused a lot of problems. I'm surprised you don't blame Obama for the Housing and Banking Crisis and the Great Recession. He was a Democrat too.

Nah, the pandemic was cheap gas as we had a large supply being unused as people "sheltered at home".

Prices peaked in June 2022 and were related to post-pandemic supply chains and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. I have no doubt the MAGAt Karen retards will blame Joe for both.

FWIW, Trump's Operation Warp Speed should have been his greatest accomplishment but he shot himself in the foot with his anti-vax and anti-mask rhetoric. Sad.

as price inflation, explained

It wasn’t that long ago that gas prices were soaring: Prices surged in 2021 and 2022, largely due to two economic disruptions: pandemic-related supply shocks and then Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The combination of the two hit energy markets hard and prices never recovered to pre-pandemic levels.
Here’s what happened:
  • In 2019, before the pandemic, the average per-gallon price of regular gas was $2.601, according to EIA data.
  • Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the national average increased before peaking at $5.016 per gallon on June 14, 2022, according to AAA.
  • Since then, gas prices have retreated, but they haven’t returned to pre-pandemic levels. Today, gas prices are about 21% higher than they were six years ago.

Supply and demand. At one point during the pandemic, when the world essentially ground to a halt, the price per barrel for crude fell to negatives. When everything opened back up again, and people started traveling again and returned to their workplaces, the price shot up dramatically.

Once again, neither Trump nor Biden have much to do with the price of gasoline. Crude is a global commodity.

What do you think will happen with the price of crude with the War PIg seizing OPEC-member tankers? If we sell them enough armaments, will they be nice to us, or drop production to punish us with higher prices?

All of JPP's MAGAt Karen retards believe the US lives in a vacuum and that the global economy has nothing to do with the US economy.

Of course, they also believed Trump would stop the war in Ukraine and reduce grocery prices on day one. Weird!
