Hello moon,
US now averaging 100,000 daily COVID infections as Delta surges
Health officials urge vaccines as the US sees rising cases, hospitalisations and deaths tied to the highly contagious variant.
The United States is now averaging 100,000 new COVID-19 infections per day, returning to a milestone last seen during the winter surge as health officials urge people to get vaccinated to stem a surging spread of the Delta variant.

I remember when everybody was shocked when Dr Fauci said we could be seeing 40,000 to 50,000 New Cases per day. It seemed horrible to even think about it then. And then it not only became our reality, we went far far beyond those numbers.
And then Republican complacency set in. They actually got used to the idea that we could have such large numbers of people getting so sick.
Well, I never got used to it. Those are people whose lives are being turned upside down. Many of them faced death, and a lot of them did die.
And they still are dying.
That's nothing to simply shrug off.
But that's exactly what cold Republicans did.
These are not just numbers. They are people. Our fellow citizens.
There is something wrong with not caring about your neighbors. I'll tell you that.
I find myself looking forward to the weekends because that's when the numbers are usually the lowest.
And sure enough, the New Cases and New Deaths reported for yesterday are a bit of a reprieve.
But one figure is extremely troubling.
The number of people in Serious or Critical Condition has jumped by over 2,600 overnight.
It went from 13,100 to 15,700 in one day.
Oh wow, that's a lotta people going into the ICU.
It's so tragic for our country.
Please take this seriously, people, friends, neighbors, fellow citizens of this already great country, and do your part to fight the pandemic.
You know what needs to be done.
