Hello Nordberg,

Is there anyone who disputes we opened too soon? The numbers are proof. Trump totally fucked Corona up. We have almost 1/3rd for the cases on the planet. How can that be a success?

Hey, we had 33 thousand New Cases on Friday. Time to hold a mass gathering with no social distancing!

I strongly disapprove of the president's job performance.

I also very strongly disapprove of the president's personal performance as a candidate.

Over 120,000 deaths and no end in sight.

Active Cases still rising.

11 States with 70% or more hospital bed capacity taken.

Sharp increases in several States:

"WASHINGTON — Infectious disease experts expressed alarm Sunday over the pace of new coronavirus infections in several states in the South and Southwest, with one likening the spread in parts of the country to a "forest fire."

At the same time, President Trump's surrogates insisted he was joking on Saturday when he told rally-goers he had ordered a testing slowdown because the results painted an overly dire picture of the pandemic.

With the United States now reporting a quarter of the world's coronavirus cases, and daily new-infection counts exceeding 30,000 nationwide on at least two recent days, eight states — California among them — last week hit single-day new-case highs, according to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

In California, much of the increase in the total number of cases does appear to be a result of more testing, health officials say. That does not fully explain the overall caseload increase in several other states, however, public health experts said, directly contradicting a major talking point by the president and some of his aides.

In some of the most affected states, such as Florida and Arizona, not only are larger proportions of tests coming back positive, but more of the afflicted are becoming sicker, Thomas Inglesby of Johns Hopkins' School of Public Health said in an interview on "Fox News Sunday."

"What we are seeing is increased positivity in testing, and in many cases increased hospitalization," Inglesby said. "That's not just because we're doing more testing in a state; that's because there is more serious disease in a state.""

COVID Surging Now

Over 120,000 deaths and no end in sight....

Correct. We went from Trump's original “You have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero" on February 26th to 100,000 dead Americans on May 28th. Barring a vaccine or cure, it's reasonable to think we'll see another 100,000 Americans dead over the same time period (mid-September).

"Although death rates in the U.S. from COVID-19 have continued to decline after the peak hit in New York in April, the number of people hospitalized has climbed sharply in several states, and health officials fear that deaths could start rising again soon."

"In addition to California, other states that recently have reported highs in single-day new infections include Florida, Arizona, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and Utah, according to Johns Hopkins' coronavirus tracker. Several of those states were among the earliest to allow businesses to fully reopen."

Surge

We are still looking for the peak of the first wave.

It looked like maybe we had reached it on May 30th, but the numbers only stumbled for a few days and then took off on the rise again.

I'll present the figures for today in a few...

We did not have a good day yesterday in the pandemic.

Lotta new cases.

And the deaths just do not stop.

The first wave just keeps on rising.

We are not doing a very good job of stopping it.

A million people have recovered from COVID-19 in the USA.

But 2.4 million have gotten the disease and we have almost 1.3 millin active cases right now.

And the numbers keep rising.

This is no hoax, no joke, and it is no flu.

This is a killer pandemic.

With all the "reopening", rallies and protests, I'm guessing the peak is a month or so off. All of those who were infected will spread the disease for a few weeks. Most will be fine but many will be not. The numbers of dead will rise.

Like the initial crisis, it's not just how many are sick enough to need ventilators, but how many ventilators are available for the sick. Texas is stockpiling supplies in anticipation of this second wave this summer or fall. When the number of sick outnumbers the capacity of a state to care for them, that's when the death count will spike. Mostly, of course, NaNa and Pop-pop because they're old, weak and a younger person has more to live for so the older ones are expendable in a shortage. God Bless America!

Very sad and entirely likely. The number of New Cases yesterday is very high, possibly a new record for one day.

It appears to be a combination of opening up too soon and too many people blowing off the CDC guidelines.

The countries that are doing well are seeing far more compliance with mask-wearing.

Post a thread entitled ' The Chinese have killed 140,000 Americans ' and the mask-less morons will be all over it.

Yesterday was the highest number of New Cases since April 24th, when there were 39,072 New Cases in one day.

Yesterday alone there were 38,386 New Cases.

Currently there are 1,298,536 Active Cases.

Mass indoor gatherings are a bad idea.

We must continue distancing.

There are still 11 States with ICU capacity at 70% or greater, according to the CDC.

Also, I noticed the CDC data does not show Texas in that group, but news reports say Texas ICU capacity is nearly full. (97%) Perhaps the CDC data will reflect that at the next update.

Slow down the testing!

(We don't want to know how bad it is... It makes DT look bad.)

Try 40K New Cases in one day.
