The USA is in 10th place in the world for the most deaths per million people.

Almost all the 9 countries who have more deaths per million than the USA are very small, with extenuating circumstances.

The only nation with anywhere near the population of the USA, with more deaths per million, is Brazil, with their extreme right wing leader.

We are poised to pass Ecuador and move into 9th place.
 
Being so prominent in having the most deaths per million population was not something that had to happen.

It happened in large part because we do not have good leadership, and secondly because we are so bitterly divided, and third, because our extremely foolish leader made the pandemic political. That did not have to happen. Of course there are always the misinformed who deny the news, always want to believe something else. But to have our leader be one of them has amplified the division, amplified the hatred, torn the nation further apart, and made the pandemic response that much more ineffective.

For a pandemic response to have the best chance of working, we have to be unified. We have to agree on what the problem is, and how to address it.

Denying facts completely disabled any effective response.

712 of every million Americans we went into this pandemic with are now dead.

Trump is largely responsible for that.

Vote him OUT!

The reason Trump made the pandemic political is because ... 'He is who he is!'

His goal is not to do the best job he can to lead the nation. No! that's the furthest thing from his mind. His mind doesn't work that way. He looks at every news story the same. He is always thinking: "What does this mean for ME?" "How can I use this story to further my own power???" "This is a big story. It's going to get a lot of attention. How can I insert myself into it, and make it about ME???"

Well, he got what he wanted. He politicized the story and dehumanized everyone who wanted to listen to science.

The cult won't see it. They let him off the hook, give him a free pass.

It falls on those who are not indoctrinated into the Trump Cult to raise the warning signal and hold him accountable.

We must vote him away.

And we have to do this to save the nation.

Because he made the pandemic response political, we have to make this election apolitical. We have to vote for what is right, no matter what party. We have to vote for responsible leadership to get away from irresponsible leadership that is dangerous to our nation.

That's why so many thinking Republicans are crossing the isle and voting for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

And we, the Democratic Party, offer you these moderate choices for the good of the nation.

Remember. We could have gone with Bernie. We chose Joe Biden as a Party because we want what is best for America.

He's whipping up so much hatred for main stream science he got his whole rally crowd chanting to fire Fauci.

When science shows that you're wrong the correct response is to admit your mistake and learn from it, not to fire the scientist who told you what you don't want to hear.

Not that you want a serious answer, of course, but here's one anyways.

Older people are more at risk of a severe infection because 1) our immune systems are not as robust as they were when we were younger, and 2) the older you are, the larger the chance that you will have some underlying condition associated with advancing age -- CHD, diabetes, hypertension, etc. If you are 70 and in good health with no underlying health issues, you are less likely to get seriously ill than a 50-yo diabetic with cardiovascular disease.

Don't you think it's pretty disgusting how some of you Reichwingers dismiss the dangers of COVID as "Nah, that really only kills old people"?

Thankfully in a few weeks we'll have a chance to find out how wrong you are, even though we're used to that by now.

For the record, staying socially distanced and wearing a mask is not "hiding." It is behaving in a way that decent, caring people do when they want to avoid spreading a lethal pathogen. I bet YOU wear a mask when you leave the house on those rare occasions when you've run out of Jim Beam. At least I hope so, having seen what you look like. :laugh: People like you are why we have lost 230,000 of our neighbors, friends, family, coworkers, elders.
