Corona Virus Peak Watch Thread

Hello Controlled Opposition,

I don't understand why there is so little talk of distancing. All of the banter is about masks and vaccines. And all the while, we have this simple, effective and greatly overlooked tool.

Try shopping at store opening time mid week. Far fewer people then, and easier to keep distance.

Most people will respond to a direct polite request for distance. "Distance, please?" If they don't, simply step away. If distancing is not possible, that is what masks are for. Even when proximity is too close, the next goal is to minimize the time duration of sharing air.

People are just tired of trying. COVID fatigue is rampant. No big surprise. Those who do the best at minimizing air sharing will be the ones who never get it.

I have recently heard that viruses can travel up to 200 feet. I can't be out in public and claim a 200-foot exclusion zone from other people.

I have just started reading "The Real Anthony Fauci."

Lyingfish- what's a Jew-hating asshole like you doing trying to subvert a data thread on American Covid victims ?

Nice try putz but your record of anti Jew posts is unmatched and everyone knows it. You should try blocking everyone in this forum from responding to any of your posts and you can spend your day ranting into space.

Hello Controlled Opposition,

I have recently heard that viruses can travel up to 200 feet. I can't be out in public and claim a 200-foot exclusion zone from other people.

I have just started reading "The Real Anthony Fauci."

If you can smell somebody's breath, their cigarette, or their perfume, you could com in contact with a virus which came from them. But it's not like one particle is going to cause an infection in most cases, because of the natural immune system. Infections occur when the viral load exceeds the body's ability to defend itself. So the goal is to minimize close proximity where that can occur.

There are no absolutes. It's all a matter of degree.

I would take an extremely skeptical eye toward that book. It is not objective. The author has an agenda, and is a known anti-vaxer who holds a widely discredited idea that vaccines cause autism. Men who have abusive fathers, or lose their father as a child, tend toward that sort of thing. Males who come of age without a loving father figure in their life have it tough. They tend to look for some kind of outlet for their frustrations.

Every week the numbers rise and fall. The lowest numbers for the week are usually on Sundays. Looking back at this trend for one month, we can see the DRAMATIC fall of new cases. This is so sweet to be seeing data like this after all this time. Wouldn't that be awesome if this is really the beginning of the end???

Check it out:

From the data collected in this thread:

USA New Cases Reported on a Sunday

1-30-22: +96,954

2-6-22: +50,711

2-13-22: +31,652

2-20-22: +15,056

2-27-22: +7,464

Let's hang in there, and keep up the good work... :)

Those figures for the last month of Sundays looked pretty good at the end.

Because the figures go up and down each week, and Sundays are the low point, those figures paint a rosier picture than the reality. It was a best case impression. So today, let's look at the worst case just to balance that out and be realistic.

Let's look at a month of Fridays. Friday tends to be at or near the high point each week. Probably because people want to get all their reporting done for the week.

Friday USA New Cases

1-28-22: +522,300

2-4-22: +281,469

2-11-22: +149,318

2-18-22: +108,480

2-25-22: +76,258

Nice to see those numbers dropping, isn't it?

76K New Cases in a day is still a lot, but we like the downward trend.

The CDC has dropped universal masking recommendations, but noted that people should still use masks where local risk of transmission is still high. We can see that there are still thousands of new cases each day, so it is time to be aware of your local conditions. If there is risk, keep on masking and distancing! If not, enjoy the freedom to drop caution some, but stay in touch with the data. If caution is dropped too quickly, numbers could shoot back up again.

We don't like to see people dying, and it's worse if there is a chance we had something to do with that.

Hello moon,

980,000 dead Americans. Shhhhhhhooooosh.

But for too many very selfish people it was no reason to take any particular measures to protect lives.

Sad. Far too many Americans do not care about the well-being of fellow Americans.
