China is fascist after all

Seems the latest moves in China are to impose new "ethnic unity" laws on the nation. These include making Mandarin the dominant language, with a view to making it the only language, encouraging intermarriage to increase the Chinese population and reduce or eliminate other ethnicities, and foster a "love for the CCP." Ethnic minorities and religions are to be suppressed or eliminated.

This is news to who?

And maybe you should take a gander at what's going on around here too.

4. We expect all posts to be made in English... This is for consistency. It does not necessarily mean the occasional remark or short convo in another language is bad, just keep it to a minimum folks...
I believe the poster is trying to make a point.

I don't necessarily agree but here it is:
However, the foreign forums I've encountered, especially those about technology and football, and this forum itself, generally require the use of English. Posting in other languages seems to violate the rules, if I remember correctly. Mandarin Chinese, Standard Mandarin—whatever you call it, it's the most widely used official language in China. 90% of the country's population is Han Chinese. If you can't speak it, you'll lose a significant number of job opportunities, and you'll find it almost impossible to integrate into society. Those incredibly hypocritical British media outlets simply want every ethnic minority in China to speak a different language, and even those who speak Mandarin to speak different dialects (given the vast differences in pronunciation, even those speaking Mandarin would have difficulty understanding each other)—thus creating more domestic conflict, more regional conflict, and more ethnic conflict. This would weaken the Chinese government's leadership, weaken the unity of Chinese society, and make China weaker and more vulnerable to attack. In those British wishful thinkings, we Chinese should be like Syria, constantly fighting amongst ourselves. Those stupid British are dreaming, but the Chinese aren't stupid.

I have a relative who lives in Hong King (fluent in Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean) and he says the drive "unify" the Chinese in language, culture, and belief (in the CCP) is for real. Since more than 9 of 10 speak Mandarin, this makes economic as well as cultural sense.
