While I don't completely agree with Butker, I do disagree with the article's author who makes it out that being a "homemaker" is somehow a pejorative and highly negative thing to do or want to be.

There's plenty of evidence that children generally do better with two parents, do better when not put in perpetual day care, do better when they aren't "latchkey kids." Yet, the article's author doesn't look at any of that and dismisses his comments, and his wife's choices because they aren't ones the Left approves of.

On "Pride month..." Why the hell do we have one at all? We don't celebrate hookers and porn stars. Why a month to supposedly celebrate a narrow class of sexual proclivities? Why have "pride parades" celebrating sexual choices particularly when they don't include many other variants on sex? Seems to me to be something society should dump entirely. Sure, let gays and whatnot do whatever in the bedroom but we sure as hell don't need it flaunted in public in our faces any more than any other sort of sexual proclivity.

I have Steelers and Penguins jerseys hanging in my closet that I don't wear.
Why would I spend $170 on a team jersey I don't really care for?
Too rich for my blood? Nah, I could afford one if I wanted one, but I don't want one.
With inflation the way it is, I think I'll spend that $170 on a tank of gas and dinner with the GF...

I'd say the main difference was it wasn't done during the broadcast of a game. His speech seemed to be well received by the school. He wasn't wearing a uniform and acting as part of that team, he was an alumnus giving a speech.

You're not a Catholic, and are unequipped to speak with authority on Catholic teaching, except in the most general terms. Many people are passionate about their faith but that doesn't make them better than the rest of us. Rev. Jim Jones, Rev. When Butker took to the bully pulpit to trash such a large number of people, he was showing hubris. ICYMI there is a verse in the NT from Matthew 7:1-3.

7 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Again, Butker is out of the mainstream of Catholic teaching. Educate yourself and get your eyes opened.

I am Catholic and we are taught the value of home and family. He wasn't judging anyone, he was saying what Catholics are taught...that being a mother and a homemaker are valued in our church as they have been valued in other religions for centuries.

He trashed no one, he praised women who put their children, their families, ahead of personal ambition.

Since many women have been forced to work due to the economy, children and families have suffered. That is a fact.

Mr. Butker is in the mainstream of Catholic doctrine, home, family, children...all are the framework for all Catholics.

He didn't tell you to make him a samich (sic),.

Very well said...(and as I mentioned before, there's a tad more than a bit of hate showing... but that's what tends to happen when there's a reply that's nothing more than a personal or political overreaction...;))
