First, thanks for the link.
Second, how does this limit anyone's freedom of religion?
It sets up a religous test for qualififcation to cabnent level positions or judical appointments.

For about 200 years, this country would not elect a Catholic to the Presidency and seldom to any high political position in government.....
Bachmann's religion was an issue in the last few weeks....
Romney's Mormonism is becoming an issue for him.....yet
Harry Reid's Mormonism was something most voters were unaware of in the entire country....and never an issue for 25 years.....
What does that illustrate....

Any more so than the religious litmus test of abortion?
Also... again... does it limit the persons ability to practice whatever religion they choose?
\It is an irksome and grating colloquialism of Americana. But, technically, it has become an accepted word to use. I guess if libs can accept military men to be referred to as dead men by a president- we can live with a president who has used a double negative.
What does that mean "religious litmus test for abortion"?
I believe ones view on abortion can disqualifiy him for appointment to an office, but ones religion constitutionally can not.
Cain's the flavor of the month, like Perry was. Once indies get a hint of his social positions, he's done.
Romney is still the favorite.
So, to you, if one's religion teaches that abortion is murder, that person CAN be disqualified. But the religious views of your choosing cannot be used to disqualify someone?
There is NOTHING in the Constitution that says a person has to hire those whose views they disagree with. NOTHING.
If Cain chooses to not work with Muslims who support Sharia law, that is his choice. He has the FREEDOM to make that choice. The Muslim in question would not be forced to stop believing in Sharia law. There is nothing that hinders the Muslim in questions freedom of religious choice.

Please review article 6 of the United States Constitution.
It prevents them from participating in that way in the government. Please see article 6 of the Constitution.
That Harry Reid never ran for president so his religion wasn't important to anyone outside his state. And maybe, not even in his state.
So one's religious beliefs only become an issue if he/she runs for President....it that you believe ?
So WHAT religions have beliefs that disqualifies the person from running for president....
Is it only Catholics and Mormons, or do you have others...>??
Much bigger deal w/ a Prez run. You're talking like christie or "the left" is setting the rules. Romney's religion is being targeted by those who call themselves Republicans.
Just an FYI. You are so obsessed w/ the "double standard."

Congressman or Supreme Court Judge or VP, etc...they're not important enough, huh ?
So WHAT religions have beliefs that disqualifies the person from running for president...(.IN YOUR MIND....)
Is it only Catholics and Mormons, or do you have others...>??
YOU can give us your view too Rana...as long as you agree

You have a problem following along with the thread don't you.....this has nothing to do with Cain or the crazy Baptist pastor...nothing at all....
Christie was responding to my post and so was Jughead.....
Christie said.."That Harry Reid never ran for president so his religion wasn't important to anyone"....
So exactly what is she saying....the Reids Mormonism isn't important because he isn't running to President ?
And Romney's Mormonism is a big deal because he is?.....doesn't that make her a hypocrite and a religious bigot.....cause it sure as hell seems like it....plus
Its not important for Reid cause hes a Democrat and its is for Romney cause hes a Republican.....
Jughead keeps saying to read the Art. 6....wtf ?...that has nothing to do with my post or my question...we don't disqualify anyone the office because of religion...at lease not out in the bright sun of daylight....
And, in a way, I am obsessed with the double standard....not only because of it being against the very essence of eveything our country should stand for, but for the unfair and unjust way people are treated and the character assassination that comes with and because of it....
The party is still playas dating. They go out with this one for a while... they move to the next... but they always come back to the tried and true. Everybody already knows Romney. I agree, he'll likely be the one that gets the offer of the ring... but for now expect them to move about a bit and pay the "field"... If they find "The One" and it isn't Romney it isn't going to be like this, it will be far more exciting.
Damo, the fact that Romney is OneCell's "favorite" should tell you all you need to know about Romney.
I disagree with your analysis, what I see happening is, a virtual unknown long-shot has steadily moved into the role of contender for the nomination, the more people hear of him and hear what he has to say. Six months ago, most Republican voters could not have told you who Herman Cain was, and now he is the #2 guy, and #1 in some polls. He didn't accomplish this with fancy flashy ad campaigns or publicity stunts, but with a clear articulate conservative message. He doesn't have more money than the other candidates, he didn't have better name recognition, he just has a solid core conservative message, which continues to resonate with every audience he speaks to.
