The man has a point. I'll add this: the weapons of choice for the majority of the mass shootings in the past 25 years were the ones on the 1994 AWB list. Bring back that law, and you take away at least one effective tool for these nutjobs. Logical, practical, factual. Couldn't hurt.

The 1994 AWB left a plethora of revolvers, shotguns, hunting rifles, and semi-automatics to the general public....yet soon after it's sunset, weapons on that list became the choice for the majority of mass shooters. Banning all guns is an absurd proposal because we are NOT a homogenous society on any level. Generational hatred and mistrust permeate every faucet of American society, and it dictates our rules and regulations.
Gun regulation is the best we can do. Effective, realistic gun regulation on a national level (i.e. federal law) is the best we can do for now.
Resistance to such just gives us the status quo we are now experiencing.

Sorry Dutch, but making false allegations and blowing smoke won't hide the fact of your inability to fault the FACTS I stated and the conclusions those facts lead to. The 1994 AWB did NOT leave citizens defenseless, and crime didn't sky rocket out of control. Nor did waves of people die in home invasions because of a 7 day waiting period.
Allowing a law abiding citizen who owns weapons for home protection is one thing, but to automatically grant unconditional CCW to the same people essentially throws a little gasoline onto a smoldering situation. I gave just two examples that counter the OP ... imagine road rage incidents with a gun thrown in the mix for a city or state that traditionally did not have blanket CCW? Or your local bar brawl? I'm not willing to live with an increase in shootings to appease your ideological bent ... but it seems the SCOTUS agrees with you that the potential fatalities and woundings are acceptable collateral damage. God indeed bless America, because we're going to need all the help we can get.

In any event, what are the statistical chances of your fretted scenario actually happening to YOU where you live? Personally, I never read or heard of such a crime being periodic, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Proof, please. If you can't pony up, then you're EXACTLY what I was talking to Dutch about.

A blanket granting of allowing anyone with a gun license to automatically have CCW rights increases the ratio of what I showed in Post#154.
Sadly we can't stop all crime but we can take steps to lessen it.
Better policing, more patrol cars.
Better education, jobs, access to mental health and general medical care.
We can do this instead of funneling billions into a bloated military, or funding Israel, or bailing out banks or corporate welfare. Hell, in NYC you bring back the transaction tax and put the money from the state lottery to it's original purpose and that's half the battle right there!

INDIANAPOLIS — Three people are dead and two others are injured Sunday after a man with a rifle opened fire inside a Indiana shopping mall and an armed civilian shot him, authorities said. The man entered the Greenwood Park Mall with a rifle and several magazines of ammunition and began firing in the food court, said Greenwood Police Department Chief Jim Ison at a news conference. Ison added that an armed civilian killed the suspected gunman.
"It appears that he had a rifle with several magazines of ammunition, entered the food court and began shooting," Ison said. Police believe an armed bystander "observed the shooting in progress and shot the shooter."
The shooting happened in the Greenwood Park Mall's food court around the mall's 6 p.m. closing time; the first emergency calls were received at 6:05 p.m. The mall, located about 10 miles south of Indianapolis, has more than 130 indoor and outdoor restaurants and shops.

If trained and armed people were present at every school, the kill rate would go way down.
