Americans buy record numbers of guns for Christmas

Nice ideas, providing you are ok with letting the deer population defoliate sections of the state's wilderness, and providing you are ok with them starving.

The gun with the digital camera looks like a good training or practice tool for hunters.

Hunters are virtually the only population control for whitetail deer. Unless you have another option, I suggest you support hunters so we can avoid large scale starvation of deer and of the other species effected by the defoliation the overpopulation would cause.

I wonder if African game wardens and conservation authorities think non-lethal safaris don't contribute to preservation of species habitat...

You really don't pay attention to any facts that go against your preconceived notions do you. First of all, people travel from all over the world to see their animals. You would not be able to do the same iwth deer.

And second, but even more important (and proof you ignore facts) is the fact that there are plenty of large predators in Africa. That is not the case in most of the US. So your comparison is inaccurate.

No kill, no thrill?

What are my 'preconceived notions'?

Deer populations can't be controlled by other means? Feral cats are a problem, too, but since you don't like killing them, you don't care about that, do you?

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit, is it?

Hunting produces income for the conservation efforts, controls the populations, protects the environments, and provides high quality protein without the additives of commercially produced meat. And yet you want to argue and make try to make it look as though I have said something I did not.

Do you want the wild animals to overpopulate and starve?

Do you want the conservation agencies to lose large portions of their budgets?

Do you want the 1.9 million servings of meat donated by hunters annually to food banks and relief agencies to go away?

Or are you just fixated on what thrills me? (scary thought)

What other means do you suggest that will also fill the conservation agencies coffers? Hunting provides the population control AND revenue.

Got an alternative?

If feral cats become a problem, I have no problem killing them. I hunt coyote to remove a pest that is harming the environment, what would be different about feral cats? I hunt feral hogs also, but the hogs are tasty too.

Most of the hunters I know aren't doing it because they lack food.

No, but if they stopped hunting the deer would soon overpopulate and lack food.

Also, every hunter I know either eats what he kills (other than some pest species like rats or coyote), gives the meat to friends & family or donates the meat.

Liberals want to torture deer by starving to death.

Having a topic on which DY & I agree makes me feel somewhat dirty. I guess I'll just have to remember that even DY can be right on rare occasions.

Somebody a few pages back, don't remember who, said he never met a hunter who said hunting was fun. That being the case, why not shoot targets or clay pigeons, then?

Ok anybody who is a hunter who says hunting isn't fun is full of it. Then why do it? Killing an animal may not be fun but hunters hunt because they enjoy SOMETHING about it.

Hunting is fun. The statement was made that hunters think killing is fun. There is a diference.

Quit what, not breaking the rules? *shrug*

Consider yourself warned. I'm done with the conversation. I think it is clear that even the suggestion of underage sexual relations is against the rules in rule 12. I don't give a whit if you are now going to try to pretend that implicit innuendo in the post. I'm just flat done with it.

I'll make it very clear here. It is not okay to suggest that another poster is diddling their kid. It was not okay for maineman to do it, and it isn't okay for you to. I thought it was very very clear when I brought up that somebody who complained about it form maineman should shut up.

I'm sick of this crap here, it will not be tolerated.

Now, if you want to bring this up again do it in PM and we can have a good conversation about it, but there is no more of it here.

I hope I have made myself clear.

IMO that's not a question that can be answered with a flat yes or no. And the word "freedom" needs to be precisely defined.

sure it is. 46% of americans were able to answer that question

http://www.freedompolitics.com/articles/government-2085-poses-gallup.html

i guess since they are not the majority, their opinion just doesn't matter to you?

and precisely defined? no, what you want to do is pick and choose freedoms that YOU find important and ones that you can say 'eh, not so much' and let government take them. not happening.

I realize that you'll have to use LOTS of water to clean that huge surface area but by all means take a fucking shower.

Get off your high horse and stop pretending that's what I posted here. First of all, I was referring to maineman, who has been perm-banned and therefore not a poster here. Second, anyone with an IQ over 90 and has read his stuff can see that the man is a pedophile or a wanna-be pedophile, so my comment is completely justified. Third, no way did I suggest that he was diddling his kid. His attacks were always against someone else's children.
