Michelle Obama's Expensive Fashion Rivals That Of Ann Romney

Excuse me...but Michelle Obama actually gets "down and dirty" planting trees and veggies with children on the lawn of the White House. She shows up at childrens' recitals, and speaks to schools and organizations about community and helping folks. When has Ann Romney done anything nearly approaching that? Before the White House, Michelle and Barack didn't have "help". Ann Romney has had "help" since she married Mr. Big Stuff.

So what's the racial component?

Cawacko IMO you have to be a moron to wear a 900 dollar blouse for a tv interview when your husband is running for office in the middle of this historic economic inequality. Michelle was never so freaking stupid, she was wearing clothes from target back then. The difference is in both their respective positions and in where they are going. While anyone can understand designer clothing for state dinners etc, 900 dollars is a lot to spend on a blouse. And for a tv interview? That's a misstep.

I've said nothing about it being a smart political move. I was simply asking how this partisan tit for tat is racial.

Oh, take the coward's way out. You're the one that called me a fucking idiot. Now, you need to explain why, based on my post. Or simply STFU. Bring some reason, receive some.

When I said I edited my post, I meant that I qualified my statement. You can look back and see for yourself. I'll repeat myself: everyone has always compared the fashion choices of actual and would-be First Ladies -- and Vice Presidential candidates, for that matter. When it was revealed how much the McCain campaign spent on Sarah Palin's wardrobe, liberals went into a frenzy. Both sides pull that sort of infantile shit, regardless of race.

Why do you deliberately inject racism where there isn't any?

Going after the first lack lady because she wears the same designer clothes, albeit less often, as every other first lady in history? And you don't see that's racially loaded? I think it plainly is.

It is definitely possible I am missing the racism here. I miss a lot of things. But to my unprofessional political eye what I often see is when one side is accused of something they throw it right back on the other side. In this instance Ann Romney is seen wearing expensive clothes and viewed as out of touch so her side says Michelle Obama wears expensive clothes and is out of touch. That's how I see it.

It's true, you do miss a lot of stuff. Lol

Yeah, it could be. It really immediately brought to mind that Waldorf thing to me, which I very much saw as racist. I didn't know about the politico thing at first. It could be just the media doing its usual false equivalency thing again. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot poleif I was on the right because it's very racially loaded. I dont know if they have or if this was just a media bs thing.

Michelle Obama's Expensive Fashion Rivals That Of Ann Romney

While the political fashionistas had a field day this week with Ann Romney's nearly $1,000 blouse, she is not the only presidential candidate's wife with expensive taste. Despite her penchant for more affordable clothing, First Lady Michelle Obama also has a pricey wardrobe.

From Balenciaga and Helmut Lang to Michael Kors and Marchesa, the first lady has been known to wear some big name, and expensive, designer fashions. Last week alone, Mrs. Obama was spotted in two different L'Wren Scott cardigans, priced between $2,000 and $3,000.

are the obama's in touch?

Virtually none of those in our govt are "in touch". Not even the Tea Party caucus members that voted to re-up and strengthen the Patriot act.

Yep Michelle Obama IS the wife of the president of the United states. Should she dress in Martha Stewart fashions from KMart?

And if she did the right would be giving her crap over that too.
The right are just very good at giving out crap.

Yep.

Cawacko I just went and looked up more pics on that thousand dollar blouse. Cawacko that ain't no blouse. That's a damned t shirt. It's awfully cute and I might even splurge 60 bucks on a t that cute, but that's a thousand dollar freaking tshirt, holy crap. How stupid are these romneys? They know they are getting slammed on being too wealthy and out of touch so they think it's a good idea to show up for a freaking casual morning show interview wearing a t shirt that costs more than most women will ever spend on an evening gown? A t shirt that could feed a family for over a month?

Wow. Yeah, they are in trouble.

Again I don't see the racial component. I see partisan pissing back and forth over something pretty worthless.

The racial component is there, because there has never been a black First Lady, or a black President. It can't be escaped by definition. And folks don't want to deal with that truth...but that's neither here nor there. Of course we have question whether race is a component of the right's antipathy and hatred of President Obama, his wife, his children and his policies.....all previous presidents have been white males. Race never entered into the equation, succinctly, until now.

I would never spend that much money on a shirt or anything clothing related unless it is a suit. I'm also not valued at a quarter of a billion dollars either.

So then in reality for a non black person to discuss Barack or Michelle is race baiting.

Excuse me. Campaigning for the office of VP and the wardrobe to go along with it, is completely different than being the First Lady. If you don't get that, I can't help you.
The RNC footed the bill for Palin's wardrobe, and her "excess", led to being reprimanded by the RNC itself, for appearances' sake. Michelle Obama gets dresses donated, in hopes that she'll wear them and be photographed in them. Show me a bill she incurred, at taxpayers' expense. You and your ilk, love to play "bait and switch", and "do as I say, not as I do". The racism comes into play when someone compares what the First Lady, wears or does, compared to the white wife of her husband's opponent. If you wouldn't bring "any", there wouldn't be "any". I was born at night...but not last night. I can see what you're doing, and what you're ignoring.

I bet you look good in a thousand dollar suit. Though someone told me you don't look bad out of it either.

Ah I couldn't resist!

Ann Romney's husband is viewed "out of touch" and she, obviously, by "proxy". Ann Romney is a rich ex-governor's wife. Non-working. Michelle Obama is a ex-lawyer, who has had to work every day of her adult life. Night and day.

Comparing Ms. Romney and Ms. Obama is racism? So a white and black person can't be compared together or am I missing something here?

Not in the context of Michelle Obama=bad, and Ann Romney=good. Or are you being deliberately "obtuse"?
