Americans buy record numbers of guns for Christmas

My question was directed to WB, not you.

Wiping fresh blood from a killed animal on a childs face has nothing to do with the presence of blood in food.

I've had blood all over me when I was a kid during a hunt. I went hunting even before I could carry a shotgun, and I began carrying a 4-10 double barreled shotgun at the age of 13.

What's your problem? You don't like hunting or guns. Big fucking deal. Grow up.

LOL. Having failed in your pathetic attempt at deflection, you toss out an unsupported statement that I "don't like hunting or guns"...

Did I say that?

But you are aware of the practice of "blooding", aren't you?

And you did say hunting was fun, and killing is part of it.

Yes, I am aware of the practice. And my two children who hunt were given the option of being "blooded". They chose not to do so.

Yes, I did say hunting is fun. And I still say hunting is fun. What I did not say is that the kill is fun. Even without counting the preparations or travel time, or the time spent in camp, hunting is a time intensive activity. The kill is, at most, a matter of a couple of seconds.

And before you ask "Then why hunt?", it is both because I enjoy it and because I consider it my responsibility to the wilds where I live and even where I don't live. I am a good steward of the wilderness.

It is quite obvious you do not like guns. You have made that abundantly clear.

So you were willing to smear hot animal gore on your children, except they refused.

Lots of people "hunt" without killing...they use a camera. The experience is almost identical except for the killing. Yet you choose to kill, and claim it's not fun.

LOL, so you say.

So killing isn't fun because it only lasts "at most, a matter of a couple of seconds"?

An orgasm is also "at most, a matter of a couple of seconds", yet you evidently pursued one at least twice, didn't you?

Going to pretend that sex isn't fun now?

You're anti-hunting. Big fucking deal. Some people like it. Just because you don't like to hunt and are a squeamish little pansy who faints at the sight of animal blood doesn't mean everyone has to be like you.

You think you're morally superior to people who hunt?

legion thinks he's morally superior, period. legend in his own mind. he obviously has no problem with animals being killed for meat, since he eats meat. He just has a problem with guns killing animals.

More Failias fantasy. Did I say any of that? Link up.

Are you and Failias jumping to conclusions together because I humiliated you tonight?

I gave my children the option of participating in a ritual that is as old as mankind. You wish to dismiss it, that is fine. It is an ancient hunter's ritual designed to honor the hunter and the prey.

And those who hunt with a camera do not do good for the wilderness they are photgraphing. They do not pay the extra taxes we hunters and shooters pay. And more importantly, they do not help protect the species they photograph and the rest of the habitat as I do.

Your statement only work if I said the kill was not fun BECAUSE it only lasts seconds. That is not what I said at all. I was explaining (thinking you could understand english) that the time spent hunting is great and the kill is only a tiny part of that time. Thus, the fact that the kill is not fun does not mean the hunt is not fun.

LOL. Cannibalism is as old as mankind, too, I hear. I'm sure the animals you kill feel much better after you "honor" them.

Really? Care to substantiate those statements?

So you were complaining because the kill doesn't last longer?

Really? Care to substantiate those statements?

The whitetail deer population in Alabama is estimated to be around 1.5 million animals. Wildlife biologists say that a third of that population should be removed to maintain a stable, healthy herd. Unless the deer are hunted they will overpopulate. Now, nature has its own way of balancing population numbers, but they are mainly predation, starvation or disease. There are virtually no natural predators for adult deer. So that leaves starvation or disease. A breeding population, unchecked, will continue to grow until it exceeds the resources needed to sustain it or until some force (disease, predation ect) acts on it. Without hunting, the whitetail population would continue to grow until it caused huge amounts of damage to the foliage and to crops. This would then cause harm to other species that live in those environs.

Surely you can understand that? Does teh photographer have any effect on the situation?

So you were complaining because the kill doesn't last longer?

First, I wasn't complaining and second I have never wanted the kill to last longer. A quick kill is a humane kill.

Certainly more humane than starvation.

In fact, if the photographer REALLY wants to help the environment they are photographing, they should buy a hunting licence and a fishing licence every year. That is where the funding for the state conservation efforts comes from (in addition to other taxes paid by those who hunt & fish).
