Cain this all be true?

The offtimes, time switches, etc. I just don't like it. I never have, never will. I like most music, Jazz is a no. As is disco.

Never say never. I used to hate jazz (as well as country), and I hated, hated, hated disco. Now, I like all 3. Some disco is shite, but some of it - like the Bee Gees stuff - is really genius...

True, as a teen I hated C&W. And rap grew on me when I was in the military, not all of it, but some. I play classical piano. I don't like music with time-shifts and offtimes. It grates on my soul.

How many C&W bars do you find in Scottland, Switzerland, etc.?

I like C&W music, but I recognize that Jazz is more global than C&W. C&W is more popular in the US though, contrary to popular belief.

You cannot be serious? Country and Western is very popular in Scotland and Ireland, hardly surprising as its roots are founded in Celtic music. It even has a foothold in Switzerland.

Now let's compare with Jazz clubs...

I chose Scotland because of the roots of the music. You can really hear it in Irish music, and see it in the dances. Even with the root being there, Jazz outdoes country bars in Scotland and it kills in Switzerland.

A "foothold" in Switzerland doesn't make it more popular than Jazz there.

Yeah....fiddles and bagpipes are real big in the world of jazz......

Which was the point. Scotland and Ireland are where the roots of C&W are. Even with that jazz clubs outnumber the C&W clubs.

To be fair, judging the popularity based on the number of clubs is very misleading, certainly in the case of Scotland (i have no idea about Ireland).

C&W doesn't have a 'club' tradition over here like Jazz does. However, you're much more likely to see C&W 'themed' bars or advertised C&W nights. Moreover, up until they all started closing down, you couldn't pass a provincial leisure centre, community or village hall without seeing badly printed adverts for bloody line dancing classes plastered everywhere.

Despite the Jazz cigarettes and the nice hats, i can't see the attraction in either genres myself.

Surely you jest.....you'll find C & W bars and bands in Boston, New York City, Chicago, etc....how may jazz points will you find in Nashville or Memphis.....?

probably quite a few considering how many record companies are located there......Nashville is to music as Hollywood is to film......

You don't need centres for Jazz (although there are some). People who like/appreciate jazz in any of its forms, will find it wherever it is. It is the purest of all man's musical achievements. It allows expression to be made audible, it sounds out love and sadness, joy, care and excitement. It shows, more than any other artistic expression, save for painting, the heart and soul of the artist.
Plinkin' and plonkin' on a gee-tarr with cowboy boots and big tits has as much artistic expression as a house brick.

Holy shit.....change the state to Illinois and you've got Obama....the only difference is, Romney didn't have the benefit of affirmative action and taxpayer paid tuition....

President Obama is not a Christian?
