The SAVE Act requires passport-level documentation to register to vote.

This is not voter protection. This is voter selection.

This doesn't list anyone who is losing the right to vote under the SAVE Act. This isn't explaining how anyone is losing the right to vote.

"Passport-level documentation" doesn't mean that a passport is required.

Why is a real ID (or a passport if no real ID) required to fly domestically but not required to vote in domestic elections?

The Brennan Center's analysis is idiotic. They claim this:

In every form, the SAVE Act would require American citizens to show documents like a passport or birth certificate to register to vote. Our research shows that more than 21 million Americans lack ready access to those documents. Roughly half of Americans don’t even have a passport. Millions lack access to a paper copy of their birth certificate. The SAVE Act would disenfranchise Americans of all ages and races, but younger voters and voters of color would suffer disproportionately. Likewise, millions of women whose married names aren’t on their birth certificates or passports would face extra steps just to make their voices heard.

Since registering to vote is essentially a one-time deal that can be done any time before an election, it is reasonable that virtually any person in the US has the time and means to access the proper agency(s) to get a copy of their birth certificate or if they want, a passport. It isn't like they need these things tomorrow to register to vote.

They also won't need them once registered. That requires simply a common ID like a driver's license.

I could go through the rest of their tired drivel, but it's not necessary. The Brennan Center is full of shit on their arguments.

Here's a homework assignment for you, gumby: Find out how much time and money the process takes to obtain a copy of your birth certificate and then a passport. Then take a gander at the calendar for the mid-term elections. Then REMEMBER THAT THE SENATE HAS NOT YET CODIFIED THE SAVE AMERICA ACT INTO LAW. So, if the law goes into effect this month, a whole lotta folk won't have the material to meet the criteria for the new I.D.'s to register or vote in time.

To register to vote you need things like a social security number, proof of residency (DL), a passport or combinations of such with other government acknowledged documentation.

Also, keep in mind that the whole point of this Trump travesty is because they've convinced dopes like you of rampant voter fraud, weighing heavily on illegal immigrants getting driver's licenses. Illegal immigrants are given non-citizen DL in some blue states, but by law those licenses are prohibited access to federal services (applying for social security, registering to vote (bar coded as such).

And as usual, your willfully ignorant ass just stopped reading when you thought you had a "gotcha" moment.

The cost and procedure varies.

But, you'd need one to get a passport, join the military, get a US government job, and for many other things. So, it isn't just a voter registration issue here. You need one to get a Real ID for example. Without one of those, you are paying $45 now to get through TSA screening at an airport to fly domestically.


So, on you point about the cost of a birth certificate, it's going to be necessary for travel, jobs, and other uses today. Your singular voter registration argument fails.

As for a passport, you don't need to get one if you don't have one. So, that's a moot point.

You should already have a social security card. It's rare for anyone not to have one today. Proof of residency is as easy as utility bills or other mail showing your address. A passport is unnecessary for any of that.

Illegals have been given Real ID's. Commercial driver's licenses are one example of that. In California, and many other blue states, when you get a driver's license--which California gives to illegals both a personal version or a CDL until recently--you would get registered to vote at the same time. California's system registers you automatically unless you choose to opt out. That means a sloppy or uncaring DMV clerk could be issuing lots of illegals voter registration just because it's easier than not doing it.

Why should such papers (or even a real ID) be required to fly domestically but not required to vote domestically?

Most people already have those documents. For those who don't, they are easy to obtain (for a small fee). For those who can't obtain them because they aren't citizens, they shouldn't be voting. For those who are too stupid to figure out how to easily obtain such documents, they probably shouldn't be voting either.

2. As a security ensure, you can't have non citizens traveling on planes (i.e., 9-11 prevention.
3. Stop lying and denying. The Brennan Center and others FACTUALLY PROVE otherwise.
4. To get all the documents the Save America Act requires takes time and money., which would be to late to vote in the mid-terms should the bill pass. That means legal native born Americans who have voted for years would deny disenfranchised. And the GOP traditionally does better with low voter turnout. Capice?

It turns out that this is true. Certain California counties will be automatically enrolling illegals to vote unless the SAVE act is implemented.
