Is James Talarico the new Barack Obama?

Do you seriously think he has a chance at winning a statewide office in Texas?
There have been a few races where Democrats have come within a few points of winning statewide, and trump has shifted things by more than a few points in Democrats favor. So yes, there is some chance.

The question is whether it is a good chance, or a vague chance.

You should send him some money. I love it when Dems waste their money like they did with Beto.

It wasn’t a waste. He brought a lot of Latino voters to the polls, and with each election, the number increases. Getting out the vote is never wasted money.
Oh so that is the reason Trump increased his vote with Latino voters.

Trump carried all but two Texas counties located on the Mexico–United States border (El Paso County and Presidio County), and most of these border counties had some of the largest swings in the country, some shifting upwards of 20% to the right. Trump made his largest county gain in the country in 95% Hispanic Maverick County, which swung 28% to the right. Trump also won 97.7% Hispanic Starr County, the most Hispanic county in the country, the first time a Republican won the county since 1892./

And now what is the story in Texas? Latinos turned out in record numbers for Democrats.

Republicans in Texas generally aren't too worried about the primary they turn out in mass for the elections. I have only voted in a couple of primaries but I have never missed a general election.
Will see how it goes, but Texas Republicans are worried that after decades this is the first election cycle that Texas could start turning blue.

“Recent elections in Texas have seen significant Democratic victories, including the flipping of a state Senate seat in Fort Worth by Democrat Taylor Rehmet, marking the first time a Democrat has held that seat since 1992. This shift indicates a potential change in voter sentiment and challenges for the Republican Party in upcoming elections.”
