So the Smithsonian can’t show that slavery was bad?

So you agree that the modern Democratic Party had nothing to do with it and that the parties switched?
Nope. Robert Byrd was in the Democrat party he was a leader in the KKK. Hillary said he was her mentor. Biden and Byrd wrote litigation that put 10s of thousands young black men in jail for relatively minor offensives. So the KKK defiantly had an effect on the modern Democrat party.

There is no good side to slavery.
I don't know if that is what anyone is saying (I have not read the thread, and at this point have no real need to as the OP assigned an opinion that had not been expressed by any entity.)

What I do believe some folks are saying (not me, there is plenty of Smithsonian that has nothing to do with slavery, it is not one building, and some of them have nothing to do with even that time in our history) is that there is good history too and some believe that good things are being set aside to focus on this bad thing. This bad thing was bad, but it is not all of our history.

Anyway, saying that there is too much focus on one thing is not the same thing as saying that thing is a good thing. (Again, I do not say this, but I do believe that is what people are saying).

However, if someone has said, "Slavery was good" in any way, then I would vehemently disagree with them.

No...you may disagree me with but actually, that just makes my comments and examples even more accurate...

No, sorry but you are simply wrong. All the "good" you find in slavery is the ABROGATION of slavery.

DESPITE slavery people flourished. NOT BECAUSE OF SLAVERY.

Ergo: there is no good part to slavery

None.

Zip.

Zilch.

Nada.

"...and some believe that good things are being set aside to focus on this bad thing."

Why do we care what 'some believe' when it is not true?

What is true is that Trump and DeSantis and other magats are focused on purging any of the negative while only focusing on what they see as positive, even if they have to spin or lie about that positive such as 'slavery was not all bad as some slaves learned good skills'.

Time and again, such as in the military now, they purge 100% of anything black or LGTBQ focused that was good, including the people's high level jobs. they want no sign of it, anywhere.

No one said "slavery was good"...
Jarod did say "Today at 11:08 AM

I guess we have to show both sides of slavery? The good and negative?"
Which is why "sides" were even mentioned..

Our museums...especially our national one, should be an exciting and comprehensive educational experience... Nothing wrong with improving the exhibits...
