We have a choice of who we do business with. This is about our sovereignty. We do business with those that want to be good neighbors with us. India needs to put a pencil to paper and figure out if they save more money buying Russian oil at a discount or does a 50% tariff cost them more.

They will do business with other countries. They do not need Trump. He is driving our trading partners into other countries' arms. China is loving Trump's stupidity. They are making bank, and now Mr. Bluster will make them richer and more powerful.

Perhaps EU will do the same tariffs. They will do business with other countries is trite . Why aren't they doing the billions of dollars of business ,that they currently do with the US. now with those other countries.
