Well we got this week’s school shooting in the books early

I have outlined it before, I would ban the production sale and importation of automatic or semi automatic firearms. I would require mental health resource officers at every school. I would have community outreach in every town in the country, offering help for these people who are struggling. I would have strict red flag laws.

two of your recommendations violate a basic and fundamental right of the 2nd Amendment and the 5th Amendment.......

Please reread what I typed. I did not say ban civilian ownership.

I do not believe it was the intent of the founders to make possession of a semi automatic assault rifle an absolute, right

then you did not study or understand history very well. every individual in the new nation understood, very clearly, that the new federal government has zero power or authority over the arms of the people. That the people were, at all times, to be equally armed as any standing army that could be used against them.

We have a right to free speech, yet Republicans are trying to limit that right in the name of protecting children from drag queens.

It is my opinion, and I think I’m pretty correct here, that protecting children from this type of murder is particularly more important.

The right to bear arms is no more important than the right to free speech.

do children under the age of 18 have the right to view or engage in pornographic activity?

Rightys know the last half of the 2nd amendment. They pretend the first half does not exist. The 2nd says A well REGULATED Militia being necessary to the security of a free state. The other words do not matter. A militia is no longer necessary. We have a standing army, a huge standing army. The people are not part of the equation. There is no reason to arm the people.

the founders FEARED standing armies as banes to liberty. THAT is why they thought of themselves as a militia, to counteract any possible threat from a standing army, even their own. Any student of history would KNOW that governments have done far more harm with an unarmed population, to the tune of over 200 million

Read it idiot. I disagree with it. Heller was a mistake created by the money and power of gun manufacturers. It made America a much less safe place and resulted in children being shot daily. Read the first half of the amendment and return with an adult response, if you can.

the only mistake in heller was scalia's idiot statement of the right not being unlimited, that it could be regulated.

Not according to the Supreme Court. What you think is completely irrelevant.

the supreme court is not the final arbiter of the meaning of the constitution. that is YOU being irrelevant. the plain words and text of the constitution are what matter. learn how to read, you ignorant fuck.

Actually, yes it is. Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the document you claim to love some much. Read it.

Words have meaning.

The Second Amendment has no restrictions but courts have placed restrictions, un-constitutionally, on many of our rights.

The Constitution attempts to protect our God-given rights to prevent tyrannical government that would limit those rights.

So, Gecko, we leave the children with no one to keep them from being murdered?

I really wish it could be this way Earl, but today, I'm thinking like you- we need more protection, and armed guards are unfortunately necessary!

My school district uses off-duty policemen in full uniform. You'll also see a squad car parked right near the entrance to every one of our schools.

And I'm knocking on wood, that we aren't next here.

Indeed it is unfortunate...tragic.

If we could understand how a person, any person, including a woman who gives life to children when they are born, can walk up to a nine year old, and take his/her life...we could stop children from being murdered.

It is beyond human comprehension...only the Grand Architect knows the answer.

The Constitution is not perfect but it is the document upon which many of our laws are based.

Nothing can ever prevent barbarians from killing children but these killings can be limited by hardening our schools.

It is an imperative to do so.

Hope you are not as well, and that no one else has to go through this grief. But wish in one hand and spit in the other, eh? :(

Do you have an objection to hardening schools, locked doors, metal detectors, armed guards with the acknowledgement that this will not stop all school shootings but would limit them?

My youngest is a special ed teacher. I would personally take my firearms to her school and sit outside her classroom and guard her if I could. Why should I have to? Why do the gun-humpers insist that the 2A supersedes and trumps any other rights given to us by our laws and our Constitution? Remember "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"? Why isn't that as important as your right to own and parade around with an object that's only purpose is to kill other human beings?

I am not so worried about all of the grade schools and Jr. Highs anymore, because they are all limited to having to come and go from the main entrance now, and all other doors are emergency use only now, and locked from the inside. And that is where the school policeman greets all the children as they come an go.

I do worry about all of the High Schools and Jr. College as they have many entry and exit doors. Our Jr. College does have armed security. And Police Officers do stand close at most of the High Schools main entrances- but not all of them.

And our kindergardens, child care centers, and Private Schools are not guarded at all by the police.

Gun ownership is a Constitutional right and you can whine about it but until there is a change, it is what it is.

The Second affirms an inherent right to self-defense. It does not conflict with other rights. The right to life, liberty...can not exist without the ability to defend those rights.

If you repeal it, you can’t even defend yourself, let alone your family member.
