''I Had Never Felt Worse’: Long Covid Sufferers Are Struggling With Exercise' And experts have some theories as to why.

We're two years into a global pandemic. Almost six million are dead. Anyone who doesn't understand this pandemic has lethal consequences is obviously incapable of understanding the problem.
The situation reminds me of the Preacher and the Flood joke:A storm descends on a small town, and the downpour soon turns into a flood. As the waters rise, the local preacher kneels in prayer on the church porch, surrounded by water. By and by, one of the townsfolk comes up the street in a canoe.
"Better get in, Preacher. The waters are rising fast."
"No," says the preacher. "I have faith in the Lord. He will save me."
Still the waters rise. Now the preacher is up on the balcony, wringing his hands in supplication, when another guy zips up in a motorboat.
"Come on, Preacher. We need to get you out of here. The levee's gonna break any minute."
Once again, the preacher is unmoved. "I shall remain. The Lord will see me through."
After a while the levee breaks, and the flood rushes over the church until only the steeple remains above water. The preacher is up there, clinging to the cross, when a helicopter descends out of the clouds, and a state trooper calls down to him through a megaphone.
"Grab the ladder, Preacher. This is your last chance."
Once again, the preacher insists the Lord will deliver him.
And, predictably, he drowns.
A pious man, the preacher goes to heaven. After a while he gets an interview with God, and he asks the Almighty, "Lord, I had unwavering faith in you. Why didn't you deliver me from that flood?"
God shakes his head. "What did you want from me? I sent you two boats and a helicopter."
There was the initial wave of COVID then there was the Delta wave then the Omicron wave. Except to medical experts, the first wave was a large unknown. There was also no vaccine. As subsequent waves hit, the deaths increased, but primarily among the unvaccinated. The spike in deaths from both Delta and Omicron largely killed those who do not accept science, lean toward conspiracy theory and Facebook home remedies and mostly vote Republican if we use JPP as an example of the antivax mindset.
This is from the great red state of Texas under Governor Abbott: https://www.dshs.texas.gov/immunize/covid19/data/vaccination-status.aspx
It points out that unvaccinated Texans died 45X more often than vaccinated Texans and 105X more often than vaccinated/boosted Texans like me.
Anyone who can't comprehend these facts and take the appropriate action to protect themselves and their families is seeking to win a Darwin Award.
Hello Dutch,
I've always loved that joke.
And it is so sadly appropriate.
How many times do people need to see and hear the stories of unvaccinated who just before they died of coronavirus said they wished they had gotten vaccinated before the hold-outs get it?
Some never will, but there are so many who have simply made a terribly wrong decision based on completely unreliable misinformation.
It's just evidence of the IQ and Educational bell curves in our nation. They are dying over politics, not science. The reason, IMHO, is that they are poorly educated and susceptible to snake oil salesmen due to their lack of education and/or because they are on the backside of the IQ Bell Curve.
It's not rocket science to understand that all of our leaders are vaxxed. The military mandates vaxxing. Why would a sane, educated person believe that the pandemic or the vaccine is a hoax? IMO, they wouldn't. Only idiots and the mentally ill would believe such silliness.
Possible but not common. Mostly it's younger people being taken in by older people, in my experience.Hello Dutch,
Otherwise good and smart people can get taken in by peer pressure. Especially if they do not personally follow the news or make a point or habit to try to distinguish between fact and opinion.
I think it's too easy to just write them off as idiots or mental.
Possible but not common. Mostly it's younger people being taken in by older people, in my experience.
If a smart person is poorly educated, misled and surrounded by nutjobs, yes, that happens. OTOH, this isn't 1930s Appalachia. Almost every home in America has a TV and the internet. People choose what they want to believe.
If they are smart, they choose the facts. If they are not so smart or mentally off, they'll believe the bullshit.
The talk in bold is excellent and covers Covid and coronaviruses, listen and learn, oh and wash your hands. Funny I used to do this often.
