I hope you are right about Pence, but the only Pence I’ve witnessed is the one who bends the knee, and works hard to flatter Trump. I think he will be another scapegoat of Trump. There are people on social media who think Trump wants Pence off the ballot. He will remove him for his failed COVID response.

Earl is a consummate liar and is lying when he says he doesn't lie. There's more ways to lie than stating as fact something known to be false. There's lie by deception, by omission, by implication, there's supporting the lies of others, etc. In short; a lie is supporting something not true by any means available. Earl is guilty of this and it makes him a liar.

To add to this, we're all guilty of lying for various reasons and at various levels. What husband truthfully answers a wife's question "Do I look fat in this?" There's lying to a 5 year old when asked "where did I come from?" or "Will I ever die?" Not bald-faced lies, but deceptive lies to give some information but avoid shocking or scaring them.

OTOH, there are lies like Earl, Legion, Darth, CFM, PmP, TOP and others tell; lies intended to harm, to hurt and to push a false narrative in order to deceive others for their own purposes. Those are malicious lies, lies that go directly against the meaning of "Thou shalt not bear false witness".

Frequently people say untrue things about others. Marriages are broken up because of false rumors that someone has spread. Reputations of honest and honorable people are damaged. I can think of several times when rumors have started about me. Christian people not only believe falsehoods but also pass these stories on without even stopping to investigate. Starting lies about someone or spreading them is bearing false witness, a terrible offense in the sight of God.

Agreed. Trump is his own worst enemy. Every time he turns the COVID-19 briefing into a hate-filled campaign speech, it makes him look stupid.

I joked with my wife the other day; reporters don't have to write "Fake News". All they have to do is ask Trump a question and Trump will interrupt them and go on a 5 minute rank lie-filled rant as the reporters copy down his rant word-for-word.

If you’re going to preach a message like that, on Good Friday, it’s a good idea to check and see if you don’t have a log in your own eye, first.

Do you doubt the US could have over 20,000 dead a week from today? That other large cities like Houston, Baltimore and Washington DC are going to peak over the next week or so?

Do you really believe Trump's prediction that the summer heat will kill COVID-19 and this will all be over in a few weeks?

I don't see much difference any more. DT has already run off any in the party who would oppose him. And he is perfectly willing to do the same to any other Republican who wants to come forward and try it. They all know it. So they shut up and take it. Any of them could be destroyed in a tweet. They all live in fear of being tweet-shamed. In the Republican party it is either subvert or you will be dealt with.

He won't do it without support of the Republican party and the party isn't going to do anything against Trump in a contentious election year. Pelosi knew that and that's why she resisted the impeachment as a waste of time but the Newbies in the Democratic House pushed her into it.

He's a toady by nature. I don't think that a Pres. Pence would be such a cringeworthy embarrassment to the nation as his smirking master is. OTOH, he has some very dangerous ideas and is a Dominionist. You know he will work to make Xtianity a state religion as much as possible. And he'll be aided and abetted by the GOP who have melded their future to the evangelists.
