aug 21 2019 President Donald Trump signed a memorandum on Wednesday to automatically cancel the student debt of tens of thousands of disabled veterans.

“Today I’m proud to announce that I am taking executive action to ensure that our wounded warriors are not saddled with mountains of student debt,” Trump said in a speech at the AMVETS National Convention in Kentucky. “Nobody can complain about that, right?”

More than 25,000 disabled veterans will have their student debt forgiven, Trump said. The average balance that will be erased is around $30,000. The president said veterans will not be required to pay federal taxes on their forgiven debt.

Disabled service members are already entitled to student debt forgiveness under the U.S. Education Department’s total and permanent disability discharge option.

However, recent records revealed the government continues to seek repayment on $1 billion in student loans from more than 40,000 severely disabled veterans who have been deemed unable to work. More than 25,000 of them are in default and just 8,500 of them have applied for forgiveness.

People who were healthy but were rendered unable to provide for themselves due to severe injuries sustained while serving our country is hardly the same situation as someone unwilling to work.

bird watching, trying to figure out what bugs do around a light bulb, solar powdered beer, studying fish on a treadmill,

disabled doing what what our country asked of them. I highly
doubt they would default on their loans if they were not disabled.

Disabled vets get very generous disability payments from the military. They don't need taxpayers to pay off their student debt.

These vets didn't "earn" it because it wasn't part of their employment agreement.

The obscene deficit is created by the accumulation of small and unnecessary spending.

These fags would prefer to reward American soldiers who kill civilians in their own homes, in foreign lands, but giving money to disabled vets is far more politically acceptable.

An educated guess is that the majority of people who collect Social Security disability are faking the severity of their health problems. I can't give an educated guess on military disability, but I don't expect it to be different. Only a small minority of military disabled are missing a limb.
