BREAKING NEWS: U.S. CO2 levels PLUMMETING. Enviro weenies sad

Teflon Don

I'm back baby

OMG and all without the Paris Accords!!!!!!

What the fuck!!!!!

How can this be?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I have highlighted key points

In a surprising turnaround, the amount of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere in the U.S. has fallen dramatically to its lowest level in 20 years, and government officials say the biggest reason is that cheap and plentiful natural gas has led many power plant operators to switch from dirtier-burning coal.

Many of the world's leading climate scientists didn't see the drop coming, in large part because it happened as a result of market forces rather than direct government action against carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas that traps heat in the atmosphere.

Wait the worlds scientists who claim to know everything about climate were SURPRISED?

I am not surprised.

Converting from coal to natural gas reduces carbon. Converting from natural gas to solar/wind/hydro will reduce even further. This is the byproduct of Obama's war on coal.

You really are nuts, Corduroy Don. Can't you do better?

Yes I am sure that you find the truth very inconvenient.

U.S. Carbon Dioxide Emissions Fall To Lowest Since 1991

Energy-related carbon dioxide emissions have fallen to their lowest level since 1991, thanks to natural gas and hydro power gaining a greater share of the U.S. electricity mix. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), emissions through the first six months of 2016 were the lowest in 25 years. Importantly, electricity prices declined by 2 percent compared to 2015 prices.

The EIA reports a 20-percent decline in coal-powered electricity generation during the first half of 2016 compared to 2015. Natural gas power, by contrast, rose 8 percent and hydropower rose 11 percent. Nuclear power rose by 1 percent.

That article was dated Jan. 2017. Trump changed the weather after he was inaugurated. Once Kavanaugh is confirmed he will change it more.

Here is one that only two months old.

Global Warming: Once more, science provides bad news for global warming alarmists. U.S. CO2 levels again declined during 2017, despite overall global output again rising. Credit U.S. fracking and the natural gas boom. But don't worry: the hysteria won't end.

The new report, based on U.S. data, shows clearly the U.S. continuing downward trend.

"The U.S. emitted 15.6 metric tons of CO2 per person in 1950," wrote the Daily Caller. "After rising for decades, it's declined in recent years to 15.8 metric tons per person in 2017, the lowest measured levels in 67 years."

That's right. 67 years. Green groups and leftist climate extremists should be exulting. The U.S. has found a way to produce more GDP — making all of us better off — with less energy.

You can't quit me can you OCD boy? You really do miss Yurt don't you? It is OK if you hump my leg. It keeps you off the streets and makes society safer so I don't mind at all

Yeah, I would imagine you need a break from your dog humping your leg. But then, why should you break the trend and post an intelligent response for a change.

Keep dreaming puppy fucker. Someday the big dog might give you a jolt.

Still has to do with the increased use of natural gas, and nothing Trump did. If one follows Trumps lead, and more oil, and coal, is again used the CO2 levels will again increase just as they are in the rest of the world.

Yes well, before you go to bed tonight pray for that to happen. I just bet you were anti-fracking so this is obviously bad news for you.

Good article but what stands out is this:
U.S. CO2 Levels Drop Again — So Why Aren't Green Groups Rejoicing?
Meanwhile, Europe has imposed massive economy-deadening regulations on its economies in order to reduce CO2 output. How has that worked?

Last year, European output of CO2 rose 1.5%, while U.S. output fell 0.5%. For the record, the disaster predicted when President Trump left the Paris climate agreement and rejected draconian EPA restrictions on power plants hasn't materialized.

This confirms the previous two posts on the decrease in CO2 output:
This isn't the first time we've reported the ongoing decline in U.S. CO2. And if current trends hold, it won't be the last.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration's latest energy report notes that, from 2005 to 2017, U.S. energy related emissions of carbon dioxide plunged by 861 million metric tons, a 14% drop. It's both a result of the decline due to the Great Recession and the fracking revolution.
Uh oh. More ammunition for the Goracles. Trump caused a booming economy which will causes ^[CO2] Which will cause sea level .00001% making al lof Hawaii below sea level except for the observatories atop Mauna Kea.
We need another recession. Moonbats keep saying Trump will cause that. They should be happy but won't.
Question: Over the same period, how did the rest of the world do? Emissions rose by 21% to 6.04 billion metric tons over the 12 years, mostly due to booming economic growth in India and China, where coal-fired energy output continues to expand.
And this is really the inconvenient truth:
The truth, and it's proven by the hard data, is that CO2 made in the USA will not choke the world to death or cause it to massively overheat. And you can thank capitalism for that.

Because capitalism, unlike socialism and its welfare-state kin, hates waste. So it does all it can to be efficient. That means using as little energy as possible to make things. And this predates any of the current CO2 hysteria.
Green Grumblings
Instead, we continue to hear the same dark grumblings and prognostications of doom that never come true. That includes the mainstream media, too.

You might remind your less-than-informed friends the next time they criticize America's greenhouse gas output: Not only is the U.S. the only major country that is cutting output, but it is providing a roadmap for how to do it.

Time for the green hypocrites to stop talking, and start doing. Or to admit that it has nothing to do with climate change at all, and everything to do with an extreme-left political agenda masquerading as earth-friendly environmentalism.

With all due respect, look at the dates of all the references at the bottom of your link. NASA should update that site.

Well, the graph is fairly clear, the timescale from hundreds of thousands of years ago forward, and never had
the input of co2 had such a meteoric rise since 1950 or so, and the number of parts per million
has not retreated much off that approximate 450 by virtue of the OP statements of fact.

The megatrend is frightening. If that ppm over 100 years means a 1.62 degree rise I'd conservatively
guess its continuation would be at least 3.24, and that excludes any compounding effect. Let's rein this in, shall we?
Wouldn't it be cool if your next RORO ship you captain were green? Lean and green, how's that sound?

gee, I wonder if CO2 levels ever deviate from a straight up trajectory for a single year?

and wonder if this is Mom 101 kitchen table science....any of you geniuses know?

Of course a simpleton like you is incapable of understanding that each doubling of CO2 concentration results in the same amount of climate forcing. Hence the doubling from the the pre-industrial era of 280ppm to 560ppm, sometime in the late 21st century, is the same as a doubling from 560ppm to 1120ppm. Of course this assumes the IPCC AR5 RCP 8.5 scenario, aka business as usual, and a CO2 retention time of hundreds of years, neither of which is true.
