McCain has passed away. R.I.P.

I was never a McCain fan, but that was about his politics. 'Bomb bomb Iran', as it were.

A Vietnam vet buddy posted the ugly truths about McCain back in the '08 election run.

I had no idea.
I also did not like his position on Iraq invasion, Iran, generally his foreign policy.

If the facts cause you angst, that's something you'll have to figure out for yourself.

Dubyah was a complete disgrace, as he refused to serve . McCain had no choice, as his lineage demanded that he follow the family's path.

He just happened to get a lot of breaks because of his family name.

Sure, I'm the one here racked with angst, do go one about this some more.

Hey...he's just like every other politician. Maybe you've never heard of 'The Keating 5'?

Read my sig.

I'm always here to help.
The Keating 5, gracious, that slammed me back, funny how much you forget when a politician has been around for so long.

It’s another reason to support term limits.

Thank you, I will review it.

McCain was not only a lousy student, he had his father’s taste for drink and a darkly misogynistic streak. The summer after his sophomore year, cruising with a friend near Arlington, McCain tried to pick up a pair of young women. When they laughed at him, he cursed them so vilely that he was hauled into court on a profanity charge.
McCain’s admittance to Annapolis was preordained by his bloodline. But martial discipline did not seem to have much of an impact on his character. By his own account, McCain was a lazy, incurious student; he squeaked by only by prevailing upon his buddies to help him cram for exams. He continued to get sauced and treat girls badly. Before meeting a girlfriend’s parents for the first time, McCain got so shitfaced that he literally crashed through the screen door when he showed up in his white midshipman’s uniform.

Only one of us is troubled by McCain's biography. And it sure isn't me. Now go back and read my original post, where I give him props for the things that are admirable...notwithstanding his myriad shortcomings.

Nah, don't think I'll bother. He was a human being, we're all mixed bags and endless improvement projects.

Agree...as I've stated previously. I agreed with very little when it came to his politics. But...he suffered greatly as a POW, and finally refused to rely on his legacy as a means to an end. He deserves the accolades for the way he acted as a prisoner.

Contrast that with trump, who remains a coward to this day.

Indeed we are, which is the flavor of the post you initially took to heart.

Actually you have no idea what I did or did not take to heart, initially or otherwise. Personally I think the "conversation" on these boards about him post death is silly and childish, and as cannot be avoided in american society, stupidly politicized.

That isn't what you said about him a decade ago regarding his time in capture. Obviously besides dying what changed?

My, my, what a short memory span. I recall the left painted McCain as insane. Now all the faux poutrage. What a crock of shit.

I am sure you can point someone, somewhere who said that. I know of nobody who said that. But the red shirts do make up shit.

Better save it shit for brains for the next time you need to flush out your toilet head to see where the intelligence part went to.

It happens that they loved McCain at the time of his passing.

In 2008, McCain was loathed by the Left.

After Bush II beat McCain out for the republican nomination, McCain took to bashing Bush in the media. It got to where Rush called McCain ‘the senator from the media’ lol.

McCain probably thought he was cultivating a good relationship with the left/media only to find out they would turn on him in 2008 when he challenged Obama.

McCain was a garden variety polictician in the sense McCain was in it for McCain, but he was a legitimate war hero. And I agree that Trump should have left McCain’s POW status out of it. That was a stupid mistake on Trump’s part.

May he RIP.

McCain was a traitor who stabbed his POTUS and his Commander in Chief in the back, holding him back and preventing him doing what needed to be done. May he rest in shame.
