Let me tell you how wars work. The first report is always wrong.

The battle in Ukraine seems to be one of the most covered and worst covered events in history.

You cannot spend more than two minutes on social media without crossing paths with a snippet of shaky cell phone footage of a Russian tank burning or some heroic story of sturdy Ukrainian resistance.

You have self-described "experts" everywhere trying to tell you what’s happening.

Maybe you think the Ukrainians are winning, that their counterattacks are driving out the Russian invaders.

There are plenty of sources saying 2800 or 5300 or some other oddly large and specific number of Russian soldiers are dead. All hail the coming victory!

Well, we’ll see.

But I understand that I, like you, am a target of information operations by Ukrainians, Russians, and even Americans. Get woke to it.

All that exciting footage? What do you know about where it was shot, or when? Nada. Zip. Zero.

We’ve seen people trying to pass off simulator footage as real battle video.

We’ve seen explosions and fires without context. What caused them? Who knows when all you have is the label on the video?

All those Russian tanks on fire? Well, guess what kind of equipment the Ukrainians use.

Don't believe a damn thing you see or hear right now.

Roman-Taras Yosypovych Shukhevych (Ukrainian: Рома́н-Тарас Йо́сипович Шухе́вич, also known by his pseudonym Taras Chuprynka; 30 June 1907 – 5 March 1950), was a Ukrainian nationalist, one of the commanders of Nachtigall Battalion, a hauptmann of the German Schutzmannschaft 201 auxiliary police battalion, a military leader of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), and one of the organizers of the Galicia-Volhynia massacres of approximately 100,000 Poles.

In February 1929 the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) was founded in Vienna. Shukhevych, under the name "Dzvin" (Bell), became a representative of the Ukrainian Executive.

In Germany in November 1941, the Ukrainian personnel of the legion was reorganized into the 201st Schutzmannschaft Battalion. It numbered 650 persons who were given individual contracts that required the combatants to serve for one additional year.

Shukhevych's titles were that of Hauptmann of the first company and deputy Commander of the Battalion, which was commanded by Yevhen Pobihushchyi.

Polish-German historian and Holocaust expert Frank Golczewski from the University of Hamburg describes the activities of the 201st Schutzmannschaft Battalion in Belarus as "killing Jews".

It is estimated that up to 100,000 Poles were killed by the Ukrainian nationalists during the conflict and another 300,000 made refugees as a result of the ethnic cleansing. 40,000-60,000 Polish civilians were killed by the UPA in Volhynia in 1943, and some 25,000 in Eastern Galicia,

Some people think having ancestors who practiced Judaism makes their descendants Jews. It doesn't, any more than having ancestor who worshiped Baal millennia ago makes anyone a Ball-worshiper today.

Maybe EL thinks identity politics inoculates High Heels Zelenskyy from criticism.

Zelenskyy Has a Request of Putin for Direct Talks: 'Time to Meet, Time to Speak'

Zelenskyy is now calling for meeting directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The comments came during Zelenskyy's Friday night address, when he called for how "It's time to meet. Time to talk." He indicated he wants everyone to hear him make such a point, but those "especially in Moscow."

As he issues threats and refuses to negotiate "That's a non starter, we will not do that".

So Ukraine continues to be rubbleized.
