Guns Guns Guns

If you employ a fearmongering spin machine to keep gullible gunlovers in perpetual panic....

Americans have never been freer to pack heat, but conservatives stoke fears of a firearms crackdown.

Gun politics not only raises right-wing ire, but also brings in big dollars for conservative candidates and the gun lobby.

Americans' shooting irons haven't been as secure as they are today in a very long time. But reality hasn't interfered with the gun lobby's fear-mongering before. During the 2008 election, the nonpartisan campaign watchdog FactCheck.org called out the NRA for running an "advertising campaign [that] distorts Obama's position on gun control beyond recognition."

For those counting on the passion of the hard right, gullibility and paranoia remain invaluable commodities.

And all of that could change in a VERY short time. The media is anti-gun, without a doubt. Every time some lunatic picks up a gun and shoots someone, it is publicized and people call for bans on this or bans on that.

I am 51 years old. I have seen more pieces of anti-gun legislation than I can count.

And please do not try and make it seem as though this is the only fearmongering going on. Both major parties do it, and both accuse the other of doing it more.

The CONSTITUTION.....Amendment II...... the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.------Ratified 12/15/1791.

ask your retarded gun nut friends, theres a shooting range in my parish that is always popping off.

You probably could make a decent amount of money.

I pay $1 per person every time I go to the range.

The nerve of that anti-gun media! How dare they report the tens of thousands of shootings that occur each year in America!

Hysterical gunlovers, duped by the spin merchants and firearms industry that depends on their fear for income, want us to believe that "someone" is plotting to steal their guns, leaving them at the mercy of a Socialist government....

The facts, as usual, tell a different story.

A 2008 Gallup poll revealed that 28% of the population supported a total ban on handguns — the lowest level since the poll was first taken in 1959 (when support for a total ban was 60% of the population).

This same poll revealed that 49% of Americans in 2008 preferred more restrictive gun laws, compared to 78% when the question was first asked in the 1990 version of the poll.

A 2009 CNN poll found even lower levels of support for gun laws: in this poll, only 39% favored more restrictive laws.

The poll indicates that the drop in support (compared to 2001 polls) came from self-identified Independents, with levels of opposition among Democrats and Republicans remaining consistent...

Can you deny that some very powerful people (Boxer, Pelosi ect) have made it clear that they want to seriously curtail the gun rights in this country?

Obama himself spoke in favor of major gun controls when he ran for election for the senate? You can try and make fun of the vigilance, but it stops the politicians who want to take away our guns. Because they have not been successful does not mean they do not exist.

many want Pelosi and Obama to succeed.
I count myself in the number, but getting dumb mutha fuckers from BAMA to understand that 15,000 gun murders is too much is going to prove harder than finding Bin Laden.

Except it isn't 15,000. It's around 9,000. Guns aren't used in 40% of murder.

whatever the number it's exponentially higher than the less advanced Europeans.
X-Bama we can and should do better.
