Repubs lost 2 seats in the senate and 6 in the House. No coattail effect there. Fact is dems still have a lock on the welfare vote and the huge illegal alien vote (esp after obozo told illegals they would not be prosecuted if they broke the law and voted!!!)

The GOP lead in the Senate is very slim as they now have just 52 of the 100 seats. If the GOP wants to stay in power they need to deny the vote to welfare queens and kick out all the illegals.
 
regarding the senate the gop had an unfavorable map going in. Losing 2 seats is actually a major victory. Just as gaining two seats in 2018 would be a major loss.

I remember after 2008 we had an electoral blowout that made this seem ridiculously miniscule (supermajorities in both houses, 7 point margin presidential victory), I thought it would last forever. We accomplished basically nothing in 2 years, then we lost it and we spent the rest of the time just playing defense. These things are ephemeral. If the Republicans came back after Goldwater and Obama I can guarantee you the Democrats can come back after this.

i agree the democrats will come back. Its just not going to be in 2018.

fyi either clinton OR trump would have gotten more done than obama.

You could stonewall Obama and all he would have done is go to the oval office and have a good cry. If you did that to Clinton she would have suicided your dog and sold your grandkids to comet pizza. Im not sure Trump would be that far behind, though he does seem to forgive faster. A healthy dose of vindictiveness works wonders to lubricate the system.
