What really puzzles me is that the people that want women to serve in frontline infantry units are the same ones that do not want the military to be deployed at all. Maybe somebody could explain that as it's beyond me.

And this is the fault of the women? Or is it because our military personnell cannot be trusted not to bump uglies?

It's really very simple and goes back to the foundation of communism/ other left wing revolutionary philosophies - believe it or not. We put every issue in society up against our morality and if something doesn't pass the test, we adopt an abolitionist, or reformist stance. These are just two of those things; the former about equality, the latter about "do no harm".

I know these two weren't the first communists, but I really like this image.
