Women could be drafted for war soon

WASHINGTON (AP) — Congress is on the verge of ordering young women to register for a military draft for the first time in history, touching off outrage among social conservatives who fear the move is another step toward blurring gender lines.

The female draft requirement, approved late Thursday by the Senate Armed Services Committee, could be as heated as the divisive debate over what public lavatories and locker rooms transgender people should use.

If we ever have a need for a draft again Gender should not be a factor, the need for certain types of people and the abilities those people have should be the factors.

If we need people who have the physical ability to do certain things, those with that ability should be drafted. Accommodations should be made so that both parents in a family should not be drafted at the same time. Pregnant women should not be drafted. Breast feeding women should not be drafted.
