Security was supposed to be strict during former President Donald Trump's speech at the National Rifle Association's Annual Leadership forum on Friday in Houston—but a journalist who infiltrated the event proved that not to be the case.

On Saturday, journalist Lauren Windsor tweeted about being able to sneak inside the venue where Trump was holding his speech by simply walking in through an unlocked door past an officer at the entrance.

"Ted Cruz wants every school in America to operate w/ a single point of entry every day. Well, the @NRA & Secret Service couldn't do it for *one* afternoon to protect Trump. A friend and I walked in an unlocked side door—no screening—past an officer and into reserved seating," Windsor wrote on Twitter.

It's a gathering of people. :dunno:

Is this supposed be a ding directed at the Secret Service?

It points out that if the ex-prez can't be totally protected then neither can anyone else.

The basic problems here are fear and distrust.

It was supposed to be high security, Ironic isn't it

There's always going to be bad actors. It's a fact of life.

And you believe her just because she says so...

It's a commentary on how unsafe we are from guns -- when a couple ppl can walk into an NRA convention where the former prez is speaking. That should have been a maximum secure environment.

It's ironic, isn't it? And so is the OP.

And more

Pranksters snuck into the NRA convention to mock NRA leader Wayne LaPierre for offering 'thoughts and prayers' in response to mass shootings

A video of the prank shows LaPierre looking around as Selvig spoke.

"You kept hearing that Wayne LaPierre isn't doing enough and frankly that's not true. The NRA, under Wayne LaPierre's leadership, has provided thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families. And maybe these mass shootings would stop happening if we all thought a little bit more, and we prayed a little bit more," Selvig said.

"So I'm asking everyone in this room to think, to pray. Give your thoughts and your prayers, and your thoughts and your prayers, and your prayers and your thoughts, and if we give enough of these thoughts and these prayers, these mass shootings will stop," he said. "So I want to thank you, Wayne LaPierre, for all your thoughts and all your prayers. Thank you."

National Rifle Association leader Wayne LaPierre appeared to be unknowingly trolled by political pranksters at the NRA Convention in Houston on Saturday.

Jason Selvig and Davram Stiefler, known on social media as The Good Liars, often sarcastically interview conservatives on camera. On Saturday, Selvig managed to get into the NRA's annual convention and snag a spot at the microphone.
