Decline in initial claims for jobless benefits reflects strong demand for workers

New applications for U.S. unemployment benefits fell last week to a near 54-year low as employers held on to workers in a tight labor market.

Initial jobless claims, a proxy for layoffs, fell to 166,000 during the week that ended on April 2, compared with a revised 171,000 the prior week, the Labor Department said Thursday. The weekly total was the lowest since November 1968, when the labor force was less than half of its current size."

So where is the appreciation and uptick in President Biden's approval rating or does the enemy from within insist on being stuck on tRump and anti-American stupid?

You have to have first HAD A JOB, FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS NONSTOP, to apply for unemployment benefits.

US Labor Participation Rate, 2019: 63.6 % Approx. 211,457, 280 Americans in the workforce.

US Labor Participation Rate, 2022: 61.6 %. Approx. 204,807,680 Americans in the workforce.

Approx. 6,649,600 FEWER AMERICANS NOT IN THE LABOR FORCE NOW.

YOU CAN KEEP YOUR "166,000" jobless claims bullshit.

US Minority Unemployment Rate, 2019: 6.1%

US Minority Unemployment rate 2022: 9.4%

Have one of the grownups explain it to you.

Have him get back to us after we get back up to the level of jobs Trump had. Till then its just people going back to work.

Trump left the economy in shambles. We were losing jobs at a nearly unprecedented rate. Terrible economy.

Biden is bringing it back. I'm not sure why conservatives feel a need to talk the economy down, but facts are facts. Once again, a Democrat has rebuilt an economy that a Republican trashed.

at the advice of crooked scientists he shut the economy down, in a measured manner but not as a shambles. and as his term wound down the jobs started pouring back in as planned. Pedo Joe was the beneficiary of Trump's efforts which is why he continued with TRump's program.

Then Trump is a bad leader. The buck stopped w/ him.

Should we really elect someone who follows what crooked scientists say & let's it tank the economy?

Trump was a terrible economic President, and that is recorded history. Once again, a Republican crashed the economy - and once again, a Democrat is bringing it back. Same story for decades now.

What's the labor participation rate, dude? Hmm?

Democrats shut the economy down with fake Covid panic to blame it on Trump. Yeah, they stopped the Trump MAGA "A rising tide lifts all boats" upward economic momentum. Probably a proud day for them.

It's doing Americans harm, though. They knew it would, and gave zero fucks. It was all about control and power. Definitely not the good of the people.

It's a tendency when a President fails as steward of the American economy for partisans to blame everyone & anything else.

Trump really had no economic plan. The tax package he passed early in his Presidency was viewed by economists as a short-term measure for the GOP to do better in the mid-terms - but it wasn't a good foundation for a good economy.

He was a terrible, terrible economic President. And that's exactly what the record & history shows.

HORSE SHIT. HIS ECONOMIC PLATFORM IS WHY IT IS RECOVERING AT ALL.

THE FUCKING DNC-ORDERED SHUTDOWNS ARE WHAT LEFT THE ECONOMY IN SHAMBLES.

WE ARE AFLOAT NOW BECAUSE OF THE TRUMP TAX PLAN, STILL.

Trump had a great economic plan, Democrats/globalists want to take America down, and the process is ongoing right now. They cheated the election, and got their way, now how is everybody doing, hmm?

Better or worse than with Trump's plan pre-Covid, hmm?

Don't lie now.

America is right now in worse shape than I've ever seen her.

I knew right when the motherfuckers were calling for shutdowns it was to tank the economy and blame it on Trump.

Lo and Behold! Here you are doing exactly as I predicted 2 years ago. That's an absolute fucking lie!

Trump didn't shut everything down, Democrats did. America may never be the same again with the amount of small businesses that went under in the Democrats quest for power.

On the bright side of things, I think these hard times will weaken the Walmart influence and give rise to more local food sourcing and cheaper prices. (out of necessity)

Walmart will be closing stores soon. Time to depend on local markets more, and that's fine by me. :)

Walmart is retarded, they have a fully packed Super Walmart store and only 3 cashiers open. People don't want to, and shouldn't have to wait in line that long to get things they need.

Sam Walton is dead, and when he died, Walmart started to decline.

Economically, things were measurably worse when Trump left office.

If he had a great economic plan, he would have left w/ a great economy. Every President has a crisis they have to navigate.
