UN MIGRATION AGENCIES CUT THOUSANDS OF JOBS AFTER U.S. AID FREEZE
The United Nations (UN) migration and refugee agencies are laying off thousands after the United States (U.S.) froze foreign aid. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) just cut 3,000 jobs, while the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is eliminating 600 positions.
"I wish I could say this is the end of the difficult decisions ahead. But I cannot." The aid freeze halted refugee resettlements, leaving programs uncertain about their future.
