Prior to the new law....

In the past, Kaukauna's agreement with the teachers union required the school district to purchase health insurance coverage from something called WEA Trust -- a company created by the Wisconsin teachers union. "It was in the collective bargaining agreement that we could only negotiate with them," says Arnoldussen. "Well, you know what happens when you can only negotiate with one vendor." This year, WEA Trust told Kaukauna that it would face a significant increase in premiums.

Then those evil Reps led by Walker passed the new law.....

Now, the collective bargaining agreement is gone, and the school district is free to shop around for coverage. And all of a sudden, WEA Trust has changed its position. "With these changes, the schools could go out for bids, and lo and behold, WEA Trust said, 'We can match the lowest bid,'" says Republican state Rep. Jim Steineke, who represents the area and supports the Walker changes. At least for the moment, Kaukauna is staying with WEA Trust, but saving substantial amounts of money.

Who would have thunk it?

Then we also have.....

Then there are work rules. "In the collective bargaining agreement, high school teachers only had to teach five periods a day, out of seven," says Arnoldussen. "Now, they're going to teach six." In addition, the collective bargaining agreement specified that teachers had to be in the school 37 1/2 hours a week. Now, it will be 40 hours.

OH DA EVILZZZ... making them actually work 40 hours in a week???? ATROCITY!!! ATROCITY I TELL YA....

Let's see how many votes the GOP gets in Wisconsin and Minnesota next election, shall we?

It depends on how the left-wing hacks manage to spin it. There are some people, such as yourself, who do not care about progress. You only care about whatever advances your political agenda, even when that does not benefit society (and most of the time, it does not).

Go fuck yourself.

This country is toast... the right wing 'echo chamber' takes this kind of GARBAGE as gospel.

Hey you fucking freak...how big of you to go after teachers whose average salary WAS $46,390...it is now $43,142.70.

how does that compare to the average salary of Wisconsin taxpayers....

I use to think that too. but now I'm told that they get much, much more.

It's something to watch when I tell them to go get another job if they don't like not having a gun to my head.

Median Family Income and teacher income are two different things.

And if they don't like the starting salery, they can go somewhere else, or do something else.

Teacher unions, and collective bargaining is like a cancer to our kids.

LOL I love how libs use statistics. Median family income: $53,051. You morons do know, do you not, that median FAMILY income involves all those families (72% nationwide) with TWO paychecks, right?

So, the average teacher is making, by themselves, 87% of family median income. If a family happens to have two teachers, their family income would be 174% of family median income. Even if a teacher's spouse was not a teacher, they'd have to not work at all, or be working PT at minimum wage for their income to still come in below the family median.

You asswipes need to be careful how many lies you spread with your bullshit statistics. People who can actually think for themselves (which, admittedly, leaves out the majority of modern liberals) will catch you every time.

How about this...fuck kids. They don't need an education. We can just hire any bum off the street to teach and mentor them...to be BUMS

I agree that teachers underpaid. That is why I am not teaching now.

But breaking this collective bargaining strangle hold was a good thing for the state.

Only a REAL LOSER would consider $43,142.70 per year as anything other than LOW

Oh yea...it lowered MORE of their pay, cut MORE of their benefits and took away their rights.

Why are you such an ass. You can never make a statement without that right wing ignorant caveat.
