Two types of rebels, those with a cause, and those without one. Trumptards are in the latter category, Kaepernick and company in the former.
But they still have something in common, criticism of government. Trumplings want valid criticism "disallowed."

What would they do if NFL games featured a pre game burning of confederate flags? That's be a hoot.

i sure was. i watched it every night on the evening news, i read it about every day in the paper. i was young, but martin luther king was one of my first heroes, along with JFK.

I agree a lot of those bitching about the kneeling don't give a shit about the kneeling, but a lot do, including a lot of black people who feel it is disrespectful (about 17% in a poll taken in 2017). some of the players make sure everybody knows part of the reason they do not stand is because they do not respect the flag of this country, and those are the ones who can go fuck themselves. but, overall, i believe tying their cause to not standing for the flag hurts their cause more than helps it and that is why i am against it.

thats a tough one. The pope recently came out for gay marriage and a number of cardinal bishop types are opposed. I am going to suppose excomm will never happen. Given that baptisms are down 34%, membership is down by 2 milliom and the number of catholic churches is down 11% I am going to guess that the papists are going to back off on the excomm thing.

I don't agree with that last. But I do respect your thoughts and am grateful that you're able to articulate your position w/o resorting to the nastiness we see so often around here.

A protest that is unseen and unheard is pointless. Yep Kaep pissed off a lot of ppl and got fired for it too. But he brought attention to the problem in a peaceful, nonviolent way.

The racists and defenders of the status quo would prefer that BLM and everyone else with a grievance march in their basements.
