Why isn't Trump getting Dixie Chicked?

Amazing, isn't it? All those years ago, the Dixie Chicks were hit by a tornado from the right when they dared to question the Iraq War. They were effectively ostracized from the country music establishment, boycotted, condemned as traitors and even received death threats.

Now, the Republican FRONTRUNNER openly says that the Iraq War was a huge mistake, and even takes it a step further to imply that Bush was to blame for 9/11. And many of the same group who lambasted the Dixie Chicks are tripping over themselves to support him.

Things that make you go hmmmm....

Trump is comedy gold
Without him even teabaggers are skipping this snooze fest

The repub debates are way more fun than the dem debates. I hope to see more like the one on Saturday in the future.

The mud-slinging, the name-calling, the lying, the brawling... good times!

Trump has crossed the line so many times and yet hes in relatively good shape.....I don't get it.....it defies logic.

If you enjoy lying, watch Hillary and Bernie. Maybe they can mud wrestle for the nomination.

You do realize that was 13 years ago. Apples/oranges.

Why isn't he getting the Code Pink crowd lol?

Makes no difference.

Dissent is patriotic. The right didn't quite get that 13 years ago.

The support for the Iraq war has greatly diminished in the last several years. While the Dixie chicks are free to dissent, people are free to burn their records in their own dissent. Something the left still doesn't understand. Just dissent regarding Obama draws cries of racism from the left.

No one is saying that people shouldn't be allowed to burn their records. But those people are now going to vote for someone saying the same thing they said.

And I always find the whole counter-chick argument to be pretty lame. The Dixie Chicks (and left) were expressing an actual opinion. If you don't like it, counter it with a better opinion, or a more persuasive one.

All people wanted to do was shut the Dixie Chicks up. That's not an opinion. They just didn't want to hear something that countered their own POV.

Well, the Chicks should have become punk rockers, like Green Day, if they didn't want their audience to reject their message. :D

:hedb:

Once again you're ignoring time as a factor. When the Dixie chicks stated their beliefs, America was in a frenzy of patriotism. That frenzy is no longer happening and many people have changed their view of the Iraq war after it was determined there were in fact no WMD's. The Dixie chicks spoke out before that happened.

If these are the same people, as you claim, they likely don't care about Iraq and are more focused on getting someone like Trump in office, as such, his comment may not sit well with them, but they likely don't care all that much.

Again, apples/oranges.

Also, didn't they make the comments before the start of the war.
