Why is Russia offering to free prisoners?

Walt

Back To Reality
I could understand if Ukraine was offering to free prisoners who volunteered to fight the Russians. It is a much smaller country without a military tradition that is fighting a world power. Of course they are not making any such offer to prisoners, but in the hypothetical situation they were making such an offer, I would understand.

What I am having trouble understanding is why is Russia offering violent criminals freedom to fight in a war Putin refuses to even allow to be called a war? Right now if you are in prison for a crime in Russia, you can get out for a year of fighting in Ukraine. And these are some terrible criminals... Who will be free as they want to be... If they can survive.

I still am having trouble understanding how they can be given tin helmets, or worse yet airsoft ballistic vests. Both are basically toys that looks kind of real to the uneducated eye. I am not saying figuratively toys, but literally toys of absolutely no use in real combat. Or why they were using Chinese tires for their heavy artillery, even though the tires would burst under the pressure. The Chinese do not take Rubles, so they had to come up with real payments.

There is a readjustment we all need to make about the power of Russia. Ukraine is a plucky country with lots of innovation... But still, a lot of it is Russia is so much more pathetic than any of us could imagine.

As if you know, or would tell the truth if you did.

It has been well established that Wagner is offering pardons for service in Ukraine. This defense of Putin is getting more and more pathetic by the day.

Putin is begging Iran and North Korea for weapons. A superpower does not need to go to Iran and North Korea for weapons.

Why is Russia offering to free prisoners?

Because they now know they can trade a tranny basketball player for an international arms dealer.

IOW, their willingness to trade is a sign that they think Biden is weak...and he is.

Why does it feel like your mission is talking down Russia?

I am just trying to understand why I overestimated Russia so much. It is a bit of a shock to me.

Why are you so desperate to defend Putin? He does not feel like someone that should be a patriotic American's hero.

He's not defending Putin. And you didn't overestimate Russia. If anything, you're overestimating your own.

Why is Russia offering to free prisoners?

The only answer is they just do not have the man power, and are desperate. They did this during WWII, so the strategy is familiar to them. Again, when the Germans were on the outskirts of Moscow, I can understand them being desperate; when it is a war of choice against a smaller country, why are they desperate?

Part of it is that Putin overestimated Russia, just like the rest of us, and is refusing to adjust his position. He does not feel he can admit it is a real war against an opponent that is willing to fight. It is still highly illegal in Russia to call this a war.

Anyone with at least one eye, and a brain can see it is a war, and that the Ukrainians are willing to fight hard to defeat the Russians. Not admitting that just makes Putin look stupid.

What we are also learning is Russia is a fourth rate power, with a joke of a military. Maybe if Putin was willing to admit he had started a war, he would be able to fix the military, but he refuses to do that.

Because they now know they can trade a tranny basketball player for an international arms dealer.

Can I ask an obvious question: why does Russia need an arms exporter at the moment? They do not have enough arms for themselves, so they certainly do not have more to export. Given Russia's defeats in Ukraine, fewer and fewer countries want to buy any weapons they could export.

Putin needs to coverup his involvement, and needs control of the witnesses... But that is not helping Russia.

IOW, their willingness to trade is a sign that they think Biden is weak...and he is.

Biden is helping Ukraine win, while Russia is constantly either losing, or barely winning against a much weaker opponent. Biden does NOT look weak right now.

I honestly believed Russia could invade Ukraine in three days, and here we are a year later. I thought maybe we could help Ukrainians fight a guerilla war, and here we are watching Ukrainians stand up to Russia as equals on a battlefield, AND WIN!!!

I both overestimated Russia, and underestimated Ukraine.

I am mature enough to admit that. I wonder why you are not mature enough to admit you underestimated Biden.

It is highly embarrassing. The entire world overestimated Russia's strength and competence and thought Ukraine would fall in days. Putin has disgraced his entire country and shown the world that Russia is no longer a world power. Except for nuclear weapons, they have nothing.

Guille isn't a serious poster. He hasn't given any thought to anything he posts. He's just an anti-liberal troll. Biden has kept Ukraine alive against Russia. He is literally winning a proxy war against Russia.

Then you're an idiot.

Exactly, but not a fun troll......his motives are clearly dark.

I am the most liberal person you're ever going to encounter. You OTOH are a closeted fascist troll. Remember what you did when you first joined this site? I remember.

Exactly. India has nuclear weapons too. India also has an economy more than twice Russia's size. India is beginning to look like more of a world power than Russia.

Russia took the land they said they were going to take. No joke. And now they're saying they're going to take eastern europe....which btw I said a year ago.
