The short answer is this: for 45 years one of the two viable political parties in the U.S. has gotten crazier and crazier. That has led us to the craziest of them all, Donald Trump, a man with nothing but authoritarian instincts, who has also helped catapult openly fascistic and racist maniacs to the national stage .

Since there is no sign of a turning away from the fascist direction of one of the two major parties (and since the other major party has rendered itself impotent for reasons Bernie Sanders diagnoses), I don’t see how this can end well.

Things are going very badly, as the Empire crashes and the people are increasingly shit....to include mentally. If humanity survives (nuclear war is avoided) in 30-50 years there might be a turnaround, as hard times builds strong men.
