Don't get constant name changing. I have had one screen name for about 13 years running.
There could be a lot of reasons, some quite innocent.
But I have seen enough rightwingers these days try to claim "But I never supported George Bush or the Iraq War!", that I can see where having a new handle could give one plausible deniability about what they said or supported previously.
On a sidebar, I think in a few years, we will see a lot of Trumpettes claiming that they never supported for defending the Orange Fat Ass!

Actually the difference between those who just change their nickname and avatar to be fashionable vs the socks, is that they don’t change their signatures/footers so you can still easily tell who they are if you’re paying attention.

Wow 15 years. The Trinity was in high school except for Billy who had just joined the Marines.
It’s hard to believe I’ve been debating politics online for over thirty years. I started in the old Arpanet discussion groups and was lucky enough to have local phone access to an Arpanet server at Wright Patt AFB. I then moved to Columbus in 89 when local ASCII BBS where the membership was local and actually would meet the people you had online discussions with.
Things began to change rapidly after Al Gore’s 1991 Internet Infrastructure act was enacted. By 93 or 94 local dial up BBS we’re dead as broadband Ethernet LANS made HTML based WWB Internet access widely available and the tech boom was off and running.
The biggest change was with more people having access and less technical knowledge and lower costs the civility and knowledge of those involved in online political discussions degraded enormously.
It’s also interesting that before broadband became widely available online discussion groups were dominated by techies who were mostly Republicans who began to switch to Democrats as Southern Social conservatives began to switch to the GOP and began to dominate the GOP discussions and were appalled by their racism and inability to adapt to the changes in our economy and the work place technology had caused.
That created what had been a trickle of working class whites leaving the Democrats and joining the GOP and the educated technical and professional classes switching over to the Democrats became a flood.
