Why has President Obama been a disaster for the Democratic party?

I guess since the final numbers are in we can discuss it now. Obama after his 2 year term would have lost

13 senate seats
69 house seats
11 governorships
913 state legislator seats

By comparison Bush lost

9 Senate seats
42 house seats
7 governorships
324 state legislator seats

Some reports indicate that you have to go all the way back to the 1920's or further to see a president have his party lose so many seats. Did more than half of America suddenly turn more racist? Although it does bear mentioning that a lot of the seats lost had white incumbents. Why do you think Obama lost this badly?

But, but, but, but......it wasn't a mandate.....:palm:

Not really a fair comparison - Bush was a wartime President, which affects voting.

Obama lost more seats than the norm, but Obamacare was more ambitious than what you normally see from a Prez.

It will be fun to see how many seats Trump loses. He's safe in the Senate because of the logistics, but the house should be something to behold. After Bannon, people can't wait to vote again.

You guys should back off the prediction business for a while

The party has been devastated up and down the ballot across the country

Yeah - I keep hearing that. Probably from the same people who predicted Rev. Wright would sink Obama, and that Romney would win easily.

I thought Hillary would win. She did win the popular vote, by what could be up to 2%. It's really not that bad of a prediction, if you think about it.

and yet, Trump is the president who will have party control of the House and Senate.......that's not a prediction either.......

according to morning joe you would have had to go back as far as 1920's to find a president whose party lost as much as obama's did.

interesting line of thought. i think the first mid terms will be decided by the republicans IN the house, not by trump. If those sitting there after inauguration perform BAU, you can bet that the house goes blue in 2018.
