It is an opinion piece comparing Nixon’s rise up thru the GOP ranks to Trump’s situation now, Trump rebounding off of political setbacks as Nixon did returning from 1960 and capturing the GOP nomination in 1968. Point being it is not promoting Trump, just offering an observation

The cable media will also be told to give faux support to Trump during the primaries, all because the democrats will then have an election advantage if Trump is the candidate. Trump = Ratings. No, they are promoting Trump, and you'll see lots more like it over the coming months. The Democrats desperately want Trump to win the Republican nomination, because they think they can beat him. What terrifies them - and has them wetting their panties - is De Santis bagging the Rep nomination. They don't believe they could beat him in 2024.

Because even the NYT recognizes that Biden is a senile incompetent, and the most disliked president--including Trump in that--in modern US history.
