Why Did The U.S. Support Mao over Chang Kuy CHeck?

The US supported Chiang Kai-shek over Mao. We sent much more aid to Chiang Kai-shek during WWII, and recognized him as the uncontested leader of China for his entire life. It was not until the very end of Mao's life that Nixon recognized him as the leader of China.

The reason America sent any aid to Mao was the he was willing to fight. Win or lose during WWII, Mao was willing to fight.

You listed a bunch of stories about Swiss bankers and Hitler. Mao was not a European leader, so I doubt he got funding from Swiss bankers. How would Swiss bankers even get money to China? Hitler surrounded Switzerland on all sides, while Mao was on the other side of the Earth.

We did not recognize Mao until Nixon, which was not until 30 years later. Even then we continue to this day to support Chiang's faction above Mao's. There are promises to protect Taiwan from China, but no promises to protect China from Taiwan.

We sent most of our funding during WWII to Chiang. The Flying Tigers and other forces were paid out of American funds. We sent some weapons to Mao, because he was fighting the Japanese. Mao's soldiers were mostly unpaid, so Mao needed little in cash.
