Someone needs to show this to those flaming Fleabaggers
so they can scream at the bastards responsible for our debt.

I wonder what that Obama bar would look like if you counted the $831 Billion for his stimulus that technically counts against Bush's 2009 budget although he didn't pass or sign it.

I don't know considering when Obama took office the debt was 10 Trillion and it is now 14 Trillion that would be a 40% increase in debt, not 16%. It is at the very least inaccurate. If you add in the extra 800 Billion for the "stimulus" that he added to Bush's 2009 budget, he actually increased the debt by 50% over 2 budgets with an addition to the previous President's budget.... In 2 years he spent more in deficit than Bush did in 8 years. Although Bush did double the debt... (If you take out the 800 Billion Bush's drops just slightly below that 100%), and was insanely spending, Obama is going to double the debt again but will wind up doubling what Bush spent if he gets 8 years. We absolutely need to curb this spending.

Of course, this analysis ignores that Obama inherited a number of policies that were Bush policies that are in large measure responsible for the increase in the debt since Obama took office. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The tax cuts (which is the biggest one). The Medicare prescription drug benefit.

In fact, Obama has not really enacted many long-term policies that increase the debt at all, and his signature legislative accomplishment, the Affordable Care Act, actually decreases the long-term debt.

This analysis doesn't take in the fact that nobody must continue "bad policy" when they are the one presenting the next budget. The reality is we've overspent consistently to "stimulate" the economy with the promise that this overspending would "save" or create jobs, unfortunately it hasn't done it at even close to the promised pace, and continued pushing of exactly the same policy pretty much ensures that it is what Obama actually wants. The attempt to blame "bad policy" on someone other than the man who is now ready to run for a second term is pretty sad and weak. Nobody has forced Obama to continue what you seem to say he thinks is "bad policy"...

o'rly

explain....how it is all bush's fault

Un huh and conversely, I wonder what that Obama bar would have looked like had he not inherited the great recession from W who, being asleep at the wheel again, allowed Wall Street to tank our economy?

You still will not accept the objective fact that recent Republican Presidents have been far worse at wreckless spending then Democrats, will you?

He hasn't exactly done much to repeal those policies of Bush which have caused that debt either. We're still bogged down in two wars, the pill bill is still alive and well and Obama did not permit the Bush tax cuts to expire.

Granted folks like Damo are being staggering hypocrites on the debt. Now that a Democrat is President it's an issue but they were strangely quiet or walking blindly in lock step with their man on a mission from God, Bush. So it's hard to take their criticism of Obama seriously. Same with the tea baggers. Where were they when Bush was spending money like a drunken monkey?

That's valid criticism Damo except, where were you when Bush was setting records for deficit spending and sitting asleep at the wheel while Wall Street tanked our economy? You'd be credible to me if you had criticized Bush with the same virulence you do Obama but you didn't so you aren't.

You can play the same game the other way....

What would Bush's numbers have looked like had Clinton not left him with a recession, a tech bubble imploding and most importantly.... the repeal of Glass Steagall... you know... the thing that led to the massive economic mess that both Bush and Obama had to deal with? The cost of the wars and the tax cuts were insignificant to the cost of the Glass Steagall repeal.

The above is simply your own ignorance on display. We bitched about the deficit spending long before Obama even started to run for President. It is simply another pathetic straw man that you idiots on the left like to use.

That's hilarious. Clinton left Bush with a balanced budget and projected surpluses for the foreseeable future and Bush (and Greenspan) decided that surpluses were bad for the economy and implemented tax cuts that blew the budget to shit and caused substantial debt and structural deficits from that point forward.

Here's a better question, what would Bush's numbers look like if he didn't cut revenues?

Right. Because the only way to fix a debt problem is through more deficit spending. Better get some more credit cards because if I don't increase my debt limit I won't pay my bills and stuff.
