What's Obama Thinking?

Interesting take.

I forget - which party is forcing a vote on a bill tonight that has absolutely no chance of passing the Senate?

At least they are trying. What are President Obama's ideas? Do you agree that the democrats and President Obama have now become the party of no?

Absolutely not. I can't believe the rightie perspective on this one. The line in the sand is taxes, and it has been drawn by the GOP. You absolutely cannot have a situation that demands compromise, and one side refusing to compromise on something so integral to the discussion, no matter what.

The GOP doesn't seem to care about what might happen come next week. They're more about appeasing the base right now.

And the democrats and President Obama only have "no". They are unwilling to compromise as well. For you to blame only the right is absurd. Both sides are playing games, but at least the Republicans are offering ideas.

I still want to know where all the lefties who were so upset at Bush spending on the war using appropriations after the budget was passed, currently we've spent 819 days spending 100% of every dime on outside appropriations as the Senate has not passed any Budget, not one. They voted unanimously against the last Obama offer, when the Democrats can't justify this spendthrift President enough for even one to support him, something is going wrong.

Where did those people go?

A search on Google for: bush war spending supplemental, will net you well over 2 million hits, the top of which are story after story about how awful it was.

It was a big deal to Obama before his election, he specifically stated he wanted to do away with it. Here is a quote from Obama himself: "End the abuse of the supplemental budgets, where much of the money has been lost, by creating system of oversight for war funds as stringent as in the regular budget."

Interesting since he's spent solely with supplemental appropriations for well over 2 years now, and considering the only Budgets he has proposed would be in 2009 for the year 2010, and 2010 for the year 2011... in short all of his spending has been with supplemental measures.

I remember that thread where everybody was talking about 1.4 trillion of overspending in 2009 (Bush's last budget) but they conveniently "forgot" that 800 Billion of that spending was the Stimulus pressed on us by Obama in a supplemental spending measure...

Upon searching I've come up with the following posters who have mentioned it: Nigel, Jarod, Desh, uscitizen, blackascoal, Cypress... Most of the posts I found stated that it lacked "transparency". People were quite worked up about it.

And multiple news stories that have been linked to on the site also mentioned it. It was a big deal.

Here's a link to "belme", one of those threads that I mentioned earlier (talking about that 1.4 Trillion), but belme mentions the "supplemental war spending" in it as well talking about the Obama record October deficit that I believe you blamed on Bush. It was his budget, but we all need to remember that stimulus spending was also included in that year's deficit... Oh yeah... bush and Obama together spent a lot on "supplemental" measures, but Obama has outshone Bush by a zillion on that one. Not one Budget. Not even close to ending the "supplemental abuse"...

;)

They were in the bath houses on the left coast rubbing cocoa butter on each others back and getting high.
