What "Socialism" Looks Like

The results of Obama's "Socialist" policies:

Profits have surged 62 percent from the start of 2009 to mid-2010, according to the Commerce Department. That is faster than any other year and a half in the Fabulous ’50s, the Go-Go ’60s or the booms under Presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton.

I hate to see how much money corporations raked in if we went to full blown Communism, which everyone know is what Obama really wants.

Yup no question that as government grows with more regulations and more taxes, the businesses that have and can afford more lawyers and accountants and overhead people that can deal with regulation and taxes are much better equipped to handle it, ie: corporations.
Smaller and medium sized businesses (which employ many more people by the way), don't do so well.

If you don't believe me, why not trust this nugget taken out of your own link:
"Nonetheless, noncorporate business has not thrived under Obama: Profits from those mostly smaller businesses are basically flat for the past 18 months, far worse than the gain under Bush and most other presidents just after recessions."

As government has grown and business life becomes ever more complex, corporations have prospered, pretty sweet deal for the Liberals on the left because they get to harness the backlash against that and propose the solution of...more government.

But we'll see, even the corps are going to be taken their hits soon once Obama and the Liberal Democrats start following through with their tax increases. Oh and one last thing, a lot of that profit is financed by nothing but pure debt and artificial propping up of consumer spending again with debt. Hardly sustainable and you know it.

Assuming your premise to be true, you offer only a reason why larger corporations are performing better than smaller businesses, but you fail to explain why corporations are doing better from 2009 through Q2 2010 than they have over any 18 month period in the last 60 years.

And to address the premise, what specific taxes and regulations have actually been implemented since Obama was inaugurated that large businesses are better equipped to handle than smaller businesses that could possibly account for the divergence in performance?

wow...comparing 09 to this year...whooppee

underwhelmed

as obama has been saying on the campaign trail nearly everyday this past week....change you can believe in but don't expect it within 18 months....by his very words he hasn't accomplished what he has truly set out to accomplish

i'll wait and see and won't rely on a bummer year where any rebound looks good to pass judgment....afterall...all the lefties hold bush to the last year to two of his office while ignoring the other years

tff

No, they don't. Bush was a disaster his entire time in office....

Who is comparing this year to '09? The comparison in the article I quoted in the OP is January 2009 - mid 2010 to any 18 month period since the 1950s.

And I don't necessarily credit Obama for this, although I think some of his policies have helped. I was simply commenting on the fact that "Socialism" looks kinda funny.

read your article again:

it is clearly comparing profits at the start of 09 to profits now...the comparison to other years is irrelevant to my point, in that, when you start at a low point, getting back up the ladder is not that big of an accomplishment in terms of growths and booms

lets not forget obama's words lately...he hasn't accomplished much yet, his change he promised hasn't fully come, its only 18 months...his mantra is to give it time...so saying this is what socialism looks like now...goes against obama's express words that he is still trying to accomplish his goals, whatever those may be....and they do appear more socialist than those on the right

I don't know what you do for a living, whether you have a job or a profession or a bit of both. But whenever anyone critices Obama or any other leader for their achievments over a short term I am forced to ask just what you have achieved in the same time period? What has your company/organisation achieved in 18 months?
Cue: whingeing about high taxes preventing progress.
Well? What have you accomplished?

The economy was never expected to have rebounded by this point.

So when you say he hasn't achieved anything you don't actually mean that he hasn't achieved anything or that he has been on holiday more often than the last incumbent, just that he hasnt done what YOU want him to do. OK.
So, why don't you say what you WOULD like him to do. Think before you write though, the usual twaddle fed to you by the Kock brothers and Sarah Plain isn't going to get you far.
Come on now, prove that you are not completely stupid.
Re-reading your erudition above I am forced to believe that what you really want is that he does shit. Poor Mr. Obama! Constipated as well as being half white!
PS. Can you show me where I gave him credit for the rebound?
